Hotel la Chaya

Don’t stay here. Don’t look at the location, don’t look at the price, just don’t do it. My group stayed here for a few days and got yelled at every day. Our room was leaking water the first night from the bathroom ceiling and onto one of the beds and it took us telling three different people four times…for them to do nothing. The last of which happened at 8:30 at night and the owner told one of my friends it was fixed and if she didn’t like it, she could leave (it was clearly not fixed, as there was water all over the floor lol). He finally moved rooms for us, reluctantly, and then booked the room out for some other people the next night. They stayed one night (clearly they weren’t happy either) and it still isn’t fixed as if this writing. The next day we were playing cards, playing music, and drinking in the common area outside our room. The owner came and yelled at us that we couldn’t play music at all as it was forbidden. We asked if we could play it at a low level and he said absolutely no music (at 8 pm when you can hear music from all over the island at this time). Didn’t even ask, just yelled. We complied and left for the night. Third day we were again out in the common area playing cards, no music, just enjoying the sunshine. This time much earlier at 4pm. The owner once again came and yelled at us that we were being too loud. I have stayed at hundreds of hotels and hostels. I’ve never felt more unwelcome. I’ve never even written a negative review. Plenty of other places to stay and plenty of people wanting to make your vacation enjoyable on this island.

Location is close to the beach but not on the beach. People are friendly and accommodating, room is clean but very basic. It's close to bars which is convenient but noisy and at tge moment of my stay they were building another story and started work early in the morning so no sleeping in

We stayed for a night there. The location is great, close to the harbour, direct access to the beach, food, shops and stores are all around. AC and fridge was in the room, great for cooling down. Internet was a little slow but understandable, just as all the other in the island. Perfect for backpacking as well. The only minus is that water came out not much for showering, was not enough to clean up after all the dirt outside.

Cute place, friendly staff, but that’s about it. Nice balcony space to relax, comfy and large bed. The bathroom is old, the showerhead needs to be cleaned/changed - taking a shower was awful. There is a gym on the roof - if your room is on the top floor you hear everything (weekends seem quiet but they started at 7AM during the week while I was there). Great rooftop with view but no shade. Don’t provide water or beach towels.

The owner Diego is very nice and helpful. This is a family business owned hotel and they make you feel welcomed. The Hotel has three stories with handrails not recommended for little ones. The room (#2)we were in, was great! We did not hear noises at night time. I would recommend this hotel to young adults or someone that does not want to spend to much money, this is a good place. Location is perfect! Close to the main square, but far enough from all the party.

It was close to the beach and the downtown.

Great for a quick stop. Close to lots of places.
