I stayed with Derek, Linda and their family for three weeks whilst on business on St Helena, which started as 10 days in COVID quarantine, as that was the Islands rules at the time. The greatest compliment I can pay is to say that Linda and Derek treated me like family from day one. Throughout the first 10 days, they both took time to get to know me and spend time with me, appropriately distanced of course! They kept me supplied with food, water and the occasional beer or few, at a time when I wasn't able to have any social interaction with anyone. Once the quarantine period was over, i was treated like family instead of a guest. The food and hospitality was exceptional, I tasted food that I would never be able to try back home, because you cannot get it back home. The seafood and local dishes were a joy to behold and I long to be back eating one of their famous seafood barbeques. The room is large and comfortable, It has a large and comfortable double bed, separate shower and WC, a desk, TV and armchair, as well as a patio are with the most stunning views of the sea and spectacular sunsets that adorn the island. Their knowledge of where to go and what to see is exceptional. Derek arranged for me to go swimming with the whale sharks, as well as a tour of Napoleon's home and some of the off-beaten track places to see. I can't say enough about how well I was treated by Linda and Derek, and I cant recommend their place highly enough, It is paradise on a paradise Island.

If you're seeking an exceptional travel experience, whether you're an individual traveler, accompanied by a friend, or with your spouse, I highly recommend staying at Derek and Linda's lodge. Their establishment surpasses all expectations, particularly if you desire stunning views of the sea and the island's captivating scenery, as opposed to the narrow valley of Jamestown. Derek and Linda, the hosts, are truly remarkable in ensuring that your stay is nothing short of unforgettable. They go above and beyond to cater to your every travel need, offering meticulously organized tours to the island's numerous breathtaking attractions. Additionally, they readily provide transportation to and from Jamestown or any other destinations on the island, considering the limited availability of taxis. One of the most noteworthy aspects is their dedication to culinary excellence. Derek and Linda take great care in preparing your breakfast, and if desired, lunch and/or dinner. The meals they offer are of the highest standard, perfectly reflecting the island's renowned cuisine. Moreover, engaging in conversations with them is a true pleasure. These discussions provide a deeper insight into the island's life, as well as its challenges and rewards—a genuine opportunity to appreciate this hidden gem of an island. It goes without saying that their lodge is impeccably clean and tastefully furnished, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable stay.

I stayed with Derek and Linda for a week at the end of June. The room was clean and comfortable with excellent views. It had good wish connection which is a rare thing on the island but essential for my work. The food was all home cooked and of great quality and quantity. They catered to my specific dietary requests and provided me with a very good packed lunch each day. Dinner time was more like eating with my family than as a guest. The extensive bar was welcome. I arrived without my luggage and my hosts went well out of their way to help me, sourcing a llaptop charger, lending me a hi Viz cost, a waterproof jacket and warm clothing so I could carry out my work. Derek took me on a tour of the island to ensure I saw the best of his home and also picked me up from a restaurant on the first night when I couldn't find my way back in the dark. Nothing was too much trouble for them. I really appreciated their hospitality and friendship. There are cheaper places to stay on the island, but I don't think there's better.

The best place to stay on the island! I booked for one night then end up to book for two weeks with them. The rooms are big and comfortable with an amazing sea view. They will do everything they can to made feel at home. With the room price I had a yummy breakfast (ask for Derek’s omelette, you have to try it). You can book lunch and diner at there place, which was amazing as I didn’t have any car it couldn’t be better (there is nothing around close by foot) and why wanted to go somewhere else when Linda is make the best meal on this island. Even if you want to do some hikes she can do a pack lunch. I’m in love with their garden too. The place is so peaceful, the best holidays!

I made a mistake of not staying with Linda and Derek, but I arranged all my tours and activities on the island through them. I can't recommend them enough. They are patient, kind, attentive and made me feel like a member of their own family. Linda's cooking is the best! Her "simple" lunch of lobster stir-fry and avocado salad was better than anything I ate at my supposedly 4-star hotel. Their place is spotlessly clean, the views are fabulous and the company is top-notch. I am already planning my second trip to St. Helena, and I will definitely stay with Linda and Derek. See you soon!
