This place is perfect if you’re looking for a peaceful luxury stay with fantastic food, service and the most amazing pool with unbeatable views of the mountains. Pi and the team looked after us so well that we felt like we were staying at a friend’s luxury place. It’s a retreat not a hotel, so you really do get personal service. We stayed 2 nights and had planned to use our driver to take us to local places of interest, but once we’d arrived we decided to just stay and enjoy the pool, the views and the fabulous food prepared by Shannon the chef. We were sad to leave and will recommend it to all our friends. This place is a keeper!

A beautiful boutique hotel on the Victoria Golf Club estate with the most amazing views. The rooms in the main house are spacious and well maintained. The whole team are very welcoming but the highlight has to be the meals. Breakfast and dinner are probably the best we have experienced. A superb chef. We hope to return.

This is the most amazing place I have ever stayed! The view of the reservoir with the zero level pool is something you cannot explain. The chef made the most incredible food each meal- from a perfectly spiced pasta to traditional Sri Lankan cuisine - wow is all I can say. Pi- the manager- is someone who is welcoming and kind. She sees to every possible detail… A MUST if you love a quiet and sophisticated get away. Honestly- we have travelled to many parts of the world- this maybe my favourite…

This is one of the rare places where you can enjoy a peaceful atmosphere, privacy, closeness to nature right outside the window. This goes well with excellent food and care for each guest. Great memories!

Just had an awesome weekend here. Amazing relaxing place, very friendly staff, they really can’t do enough for you. Meals are very tasty and such a wide variety of choice. If you like, you can also do yoga and have a massage. Rooms are spacious with fantastic views across the reservoir and knuckle mountains. I cannot recommend bougainvillea retreat enough!!

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Bougainvillea. Great location, beautifully views, good food, friendly and helpful hosts. I'll be recommending to any friends wanting to get away for stay in the Sri Lankan hills.

We were staying at Bougainvillea Retreat near Kandy during 8-11 September 2023 - and we wish we could have stayed longer! The place is beautiful, tranquil, and very clean. The staff is so welcoming and kind and the service was above and beyond. The food was great (you should definetly order Sri Lankan food, the chef made us curry one night with like, 6 different kinds of curry!). Last, but not least, the host, Pi, is very sweet and friendly and she will help you with everything. All in all, we give Bougainvillea Retreat our warmest recommendations and hope to return to this splendid hotel one day. Mange hilsner, Birte-Marie og Marie Louise

Pi and her team could not have done more to make our stay enjoyable. It is a stunning property with incredible views across the unspoiled knuckle Mountains. We had the family suite which was perfect for our trip. My younger son (age 16) was not feeling too well and they looked after him with such kindness while we went out for a half day trip. Amazing place and amazing people - the food is to die for too!
