"Perfect location, just like less than 5 minutes' walk to the beautiful Copacabana beach. Just be careful in the surroundings, especially with your valuable items, as this area might get busy. Use Uber to visit places. Highly recommend this place."

"Well located place with great service. The accommodation left something to be desired. In my room there was a lot of noise because of the air conditioners in the other rooms next door. (I didn't quite understand the logistics of the window), the intercom to speak to reception wasn't working, and at one point while taking a quick shower, the bathroom flooded the entire room. The hotel also does not allow smoking in the rooms, but there is no smoking area after 10pm. Apart from these details, it was a peaceful stay and in a well located and safe location."

"The hotel is located on the main street, a 5-7 minute walk to the beach. There's a currency exchange office nearby with a good rate, but it's closed on weekends and closes at 6:00 PM. Breakfasts are delicious, security is on hand, and it's very safe. We left documents and other savings in the safe, and nothing was lost. During holidays, the hotel tightens security and access control. There's a pool and a terrace with a bar with a stunning view. The room is very comfortable, the bed is also comfortable, the water pressure is excellent, and there are European-style outlets."

"We booked this hotel in Nov at an inflated price of $1500 USD for 4 nights assuming there'd be rooftop access on NYE since the hotel website didn't call out a ticketed event for that night. When we arrived, the staff told us it was in fact a ticketed event for an additional $300 USD. Perhaps our oversight but we scowered the website before booking at such a high price and it wasn't there. The manager was very helpful in accommodating a cancellation if needed, ultimately we were too tired to pack and unpack again and waste another day in transit so we stayed and bought the tickets. Check in is 2pm. We arrived at 1pm and they said they had a room for us. It wasn't ready so we went to the pool where again, service was wonderful. Front desk gave us a tour of 2 rooms to choose from which was great, but then msgd me and said they'd have a diff room ready at 2:30. We went down at 3pm and the room changed yet again and the new room still wasn't ready. We got a room with no apologies at 4pm. The room was standard. Strong cleaning smell but decent. The shower hose didn't stay in place. The shower drain did not work at all - we had to kick the water to the corner each time for it to drain or pools of water stayed until the next day. The sink also didn't drain. The toilet stopped flushing. We had a plate with one chocolate on it from NYE which by the next day was covered in ants. We are very tidy girls and give some grace for older hotels to have some flaws, but the experience for the price we paid made us appreciate the airbnbs we'd stayed at before checking in here. Location is great, gym and pool are great, but not worth the $ for NYE or Carnival."

"Hotel with a privileged location, in front of Inga beach and close to the Icarai neighborhood. Hotel with a high standard style and services to match. Very varied breakfast. In my opinion, the best hotel in Niterói in terms of quality and comfort. However, the price is more expensive but in line with the service."

"Excellent hotel right on Copacabana beachfront. The staff are attentive, and the rooms are spacious with comfortable beds and a good selection of pillows. The linens are wonderful, and the shower cabin is convenient with excellent water pressure – almost like a Vichy shower. Breakfasts are very varied and include lightly salted Chilean salmon, Parma ham, and Parmesan cheese. The only thing that was disappointing was the room's proximity to a utility room where the ventilation was constantly running. Alternatively, it might have been the bathroom ventilation, which worked non-stop, and its noise was very annoying when trying to fall asleep. Also, the football fans in the street cafe, who watched matches on TV and enthusiastically celebrated their team's successes, sometimes until midnight or even later."

"This was my fifth time at this hotel . Both my husband and I always enjoy staying here ! The best - as good as the amazing views of the beach - are the staff .  It is incredible that most servers , check in people , luggage bellmen remember us ! They are all so kind , efficient and friendly that they make us feel part of their family !  Can’t find words to describe how much we enjoy staying at the PortoBay , Copacabana !"

"When booking this hotel, you need to manage your expectations. I booked a ”luxury, ocean view” room for over $200, which was okay, but the problem is, it wasn't worth the price. It was just a $100 room, or even less. The room was small overall, and a large tree blocked the view of the ocean. My biggest complaint was the front desk staff; they weren't helpful, and their service attitude didn't match the price."
