La Casona de Yaiza

We booked the hotel (rather late in the day) as part of an Inntravel package - and only then read some of the negative reviews here. Our experience of the hotel brought us to an opposite conclusion. The location on the edge of the small town of Yaiza is not remote, but quiet and tranquil, and only a relatively short drive to the southernmost beaches and resorts, rugged coastal path, or in other directions, the amazing Timanfaya National Park. The room we had was next to the pool (very cold, but invigorating!), and was clean, spacious, and had a great shower and a very comfortable bed. It was cleaned daily, and the only improvement we would suggest is that it could benefit from having a couple of chairs (it had one plastic chair). Some other rooms seemed to be a little more opulent, but the one we had was more than adequate for our needs, and met out expectations Breakfast, served in the courtyard, was wholesome, with a wide and plentiful choice of fresh fruits, cereals, yogurts, ham, salami, cheese and breads etc. The breakfast staff, who worked very hard, were fantastic, charming and infinitely patient. Evening meals at the restaurant (which is not run by the hotel, as far as we understood the situation) was a relaxed, very tasty and friendly experience. The management were there to help and advise, and we didn't feel any negative vibes. We had a very relaxing time at the hotel, and wish it and its charming staff well for the future.

What a lovely place to stay. Bit 80s accommodation. But what do you need, good shower/bath. Cooking facilities,TV sofa table and chairs. Lovely front and rear seating areas. Rooms cleaned 5 out of 7 days. Mostly adults as no entertainment. Friendly helpful staff. I traveled alone so was happy for all the help they give me. Booking soon to go back.
Hotel Fariones

We spent 16 nights over Christmas and New Year at the Fariones and had a great time. The Hotel is beautifully and tastefully renovated with subtle luxury in a classic mid- century design which you would typically find in smaller boutique hotels. Many old features of the traditional Fariones Hotel were kept which all together provides a very comfortable and classy and elegant atmosphere without being stuffy or fussy. The grounds and garden resemble top luxury resorts in Thailand or the Maldives with plenty of palm trees, exotic gardens and many different and private areas for lounging, sun bathing, relaxing and so on. All 3 restaurants have their own style with great food and service. All rooms have sea views with a high level of comfort, design and decoration The sports center 2 minutes walk away although a little older offered everything needed and more... The hygiene concept was professional and taken seriously Hotel Director Jörg and his team made great efforts during Christmas and New Year with a classy programme of dining, entertainment, live music and daily piano sessions which all in all provided a very festive atmosphere. The multinational team of the Fariones displayed a very positive spirit. The hotel opened only a few month before the holiday season and it seemed that everone was exited to be back in business ater 4 yers of renovation. Despite the reopening there was not a single negative service moment in over 2 weeks. Just to name a few staff members who made it a special stay for us: Arnaud, Emilie and Javier from reception. Fransisco, Anna, Miriam and Elke from Guest relations. Marco, Elizabeth, Veronica, Ivano, Isaac and Julius from service Harriet and Patrick from Kaori The Lobby bar team Thanks to the Fariones team for a great Holiday I wish you all the best for the co ming months in this challenging pandemic times. We are looking forward to comin back at easter! A.T. (#624/625)
Casa de Hilario

Stayed in one of the suites… Quirky furnishings and decor in the room and bathroom…the volcanic rock bathroom was amazing…Outside there was a nice private terrace with table and chairs but only 1 very old and worn sun lounger. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful but the lack of availability of coffee and tea before breakfast service was surprising given that there were no facilities in the room to make any. There’s a lovely communal lounge and outside tables and chairs, there’s a communal fridge with a basket per room for your own personal goods so in the evening it would have been perfect to sit and have supper and a drink but there were no glasses, plates, cutlery to use… they were all locked away in cupboards until breakfast !!!! Hilario is in such a beautiful quiet location, perfect for exploring the island but sadly it’s lacking in simple things and a personal touch that are always available everywhere else we have stayed. We had no contact from the owners after our arrival. Given that we paid 117 euros a night for 7 nights we feel our experience wasn’t what we expected or value for money.
Ona Las Brisas

We've had 2 wonderful stays at Las Brisas with RCI exchanges. This time, with no RCI exchange available we went as paying guests. Sadly, our experience this time was a disappointment. We love the location close to Playa Blanca centre. We also really like the bar and restaurant. We were very unhappy with our accomodation. We booked 7 days in a 1 bedroom villa followed by 5 days in a 2 bedroom villa. We were allocated villa number 2 for the first week on the corner between the main highway and bus station. Very noisy with constant smells of truck and bus fumes. We asked at reception for something further away from the road but nothing was available. So our hope of a quiet week eating and relaxing on our terrace didn't happen. On changeover day we were told to wait in villa 2, until our new villa was ready to move into. We went to reception twice during the morning to check on progress and were told that we would receive a phone call when it was time to move. I assumed that this would be on my mobile because there was no telephone in the villa. Sadly I was wrong and the receptionist apparently rang several times to a non existent phone in the villa. Strange that no-one thought to check why we were not picking up the phone, especially when we'd been to reception twice to check on progress. Eventually, the cleaner handed me her phone because she'd asked the housekeeper why we were still in the villa, so the housekeeper told me villa 21 was ready. We went to reception for keys and it was implied that we were at fault for not answering the phone which didn't exist. So we moved to villa 21. Great location, well away from the road and bus station. Villa 21 was not ready. Beds were not changed, kitchen was not cleaned, cleaning rags and bags of laundry (not sure if clean or dirty) were left in the living room area. So, another trip to reception! The cleaner did return a short while later to finish. Later we opened the fridge. When we did so we were confronted with a disgusting smell of rotting fish. Should have been another trip to reception but instead we decided to do the cleaner's job and throughly clean the fridge. We also bought some lemons in an attempt to improve the smell. None of this worked, so off to reception for another chat. A few hours later, someone came in, fiddled about behind the fridge, sprayed some liquid behind the fridge, and left. That didn't work, so another trip to reception. Late in the following afternoon two people came in, fiddled about behind the fridge, sprayed some liquid behind the fridge and left. About one hour later two more people came in and did the same thing. None of it worked, the smell was still awful every time we opened the firdge. Strange that so many people could repeat the same mistake and hope for a different result. By now it was our last full day in resort. So, another visit to reception where we said that if anyone who had tried to fix the fridge had opened it they must have k
Apartamentos LIVVO Oasis

Just back in from a 10 night stay in the Oasis Apartments. We love the place and this is our 6th visit. It never disappoints. The receptionists and cleaning staff are so friendly and accommodating. The apartments and communal areas are immaculate. I find it hard to believe that it only has 2 stars as it feels much more superior than that. As we were staying for longer than the normal week we usually stay, we paid the extra to stay in the superior apartments with air-conditioning. It was well well worth it. The room was so comfortable, cool and was cleaned almost daily. Charlie in the Pool Bar is great fun, lovely, clean food and reasonably priced. Less than a five minute walk to the ***** and all the action, yet far enough away from it, to be very quite and peaceful. There is always room around the pool, with lots of beds. It feels really safe. I think its a great sign of a place that there are lots of regulars, so you always know someone from previous visits. A number of guests stay for up to 6 weeks at a time and longer. Yet another holiday that did not disappoint. Thank you very much to all the lovely staff at the Oasis. Look forward to seeing you soon.
