We spent 3 nights in this hotel which is located just inside the city walls. We could walk anywhere within the city center is less than 15 minutes. We had great service from the front desk, bar staff and breakfast restaurant. Our room on the 1st floor had plenty of luggage space along with sufficient closet space. The room didn’t cool as much as we would have liked, but we left the window open for a while until the room was a more pleasant temperature. The breakfast options each morning were pretty much the same but varied enough to satisfy us. We would have preferred a coffee or hot water dispenser since hot drinks had to be requested from the waitress (who actually did a good job trying to keep up with the guests).

We stayed here for a week in March and had a fabulous week. We were allocated a junior suite on the 3rd floor, overlooking a small courtyard. The room was large with a huge bed an extra little annexe and was very nicely appointed with a lot of character. There were even novels in English placed in the room. Breakfast was good with coffee brought to order by friendly staff. The reception staff were also very friendly, with especial thanks to Barbara who once she understood I wanted to try to speak Italian was very patient with me and made a point of chatting with me every day. The hotel is ideally located for a walk on the city walls, which we walked several times. Just up the road from the hotel there are several restaurants and a range of shops including a supermarket. We took the train from Pisa airport to Lucca and it is about a 15 minute walk from Lucca station. It is very easy to walk around everywhere in Lucca from the hotel and we thoroughly enjoyed exploring the city. In short, the San Luca Palace is a lovely little hotel in a beautiful city.

I had a FANTASTIC stay at the hotel. I did not know what to expect because it was off season in Lucca, the friendly hotel gave a large room, a suite on the first floor. The location was good because San Luca Palace Hotel is near the wall, but a fast walk to the center. But if you want a stroll on the on the city wall, easy, just up the ramp. The breakfast was scrumptious. Staff and service were top notch, no complaints at all.

A truly lovely, upscale hotel within the city walls. We were in room 15 with not only a large bed but also a day bed. The shower was very large but tended to leak water between the two doors. The decor appointments are striking -- yards and yards of draperies which overhang on the floors. If asked, the front desk person will make coffee before the opening of breakfast. I had my morning coffee without having to search in the early morning. The room is very cool at night. I wore the bathrobe to bed to stay warm. This hotel suited us fine.

Charming, older hotel with friendly staff. Breakfast had large buffet, lots healthy options, fresh fruits, eggs, breads, pastries. Coffee was prepared to order and served to guests. Convenient location in downtown. Room was above avg size, clean, comfy and very quiet. Enjoyed my stay.

After an unfortunate experience with AirBnb we found ourselves homeless in Lucca and walked into the San Luca on spec. The receptionist was so welcoming and happy to show us two available rooms which were competitively priced. In our two night stay we had a fantastic sleep on the most comfortable beds. The period decor meant the rooms were nice and dark and relaxing. The fridge in the room actually worked and there was a full range of bathroom shampoos, shower gel etc. linens and towels were good quality. The buffet breakfast was excellent, especially the coffee. The one thing the room lacked was a kettle with tea/coffee. We loved the hotel bikes but the best thing was the warm, friendly and welcoming staff. The best we met in Tuscany. We appreciate very much this hotel and will definitely stay there again if we return to Lucca.

We stayed in this hotel for four nights and loved it. The location is convenient to everything in central Lucca. The staff is very friendly and helpful with directions. The breakfast is exceptionally good.

Hotel was over rated in my opinion. The rooms were in dire need of upgrading. It was like walking into a time warp. Interior was easily two decades flashback. Everything was functional but to be a 4 star you need a newer bed and linens (bed was hard). Everything else about the hotel was solid 4+ stars. Maybe I just had a bad room…

Very nice rooms in a very nice building in a very nice place :) Wonderful breakfast and very nice staff. Handy parking, to which google maps draws a way to convoluted route. The drawbacks are totally overshadowed here, but here goes: The cold water was never cold, the bed cover/blanket is not enough for 2 degrees outside and there were some trucks running their coolers both nights I've been there. But, by all means, I would not hesitate to book again.
