A wonderful family stay! Everyone was so helpful and accommodating for our party of eight. Nothing was too much trouble. Food was very good but some staples - chicken, salmon, lamb would be good additions. Shelly’s Cottage was an excellent home from home with all the amenities of the Sun on our doorstep. We will be back!!

What a fantastic night away! The room was amazing, the bath was the biggest I have ever seen, the food was fantastic and staff so friendly and accommodating even on a busy Easter Sunday! Everything from start to finish was great! We will be back.

We had a fantastic week. Very friendly and great food. A very interesting and quirky 14th century pub and hotel. A really good location for walking and exploring the area. Thank you everyone we won't hesitate to stay again when in the area. Peter and Natasha

Room was nice. The restaurant is overpriced and food was mediocre at best. I ordered pork which was fatty. Chips were huge chunks cooked in old oil and arrived half way through meal. Cost of food was extraordinary and I spend a lot of time in London

Visited Lynton and Lynmouth today and had a really lovely time. The cliff railway is just brilliant fun with some spectacular views, even when the weather isn't that great. Decided to have lunch in the Rising Sun and I'm really glad we did. Had a most enjoyable chat with the barman about music, it would seem his taste and mine certainly have some crossover points. It's always nice to meet someone who's musical interests stretch a little beyond the mediocre, although this is a rare thing! To eat, we just had the fish and chips but it was lovely. The fish was haddock if I remember correctly and tasted very fresh and I can't fault the chips. Loved this pub and the town in general. Hope to come back here again sometime.

Interesting and very nice, but not quite as luxurious as some of the photos and website might suggest. Still well worth a visit though.

Had a day out in lynmouth today and visited this little quaint harbour pub. Was shocked at the price of a pint tf local beer. Seems like they have a price for locals and a price for tourists as I had a pint of peach lager and a Gordon’s gin and lemonade and was charged over £13. Back in minehead, the same round was under £10 in a hotel. Seems as though everything was being rung through as the same drink no matter what you had.

We headed to the Rising Sun looking forward to a quality dinner to help celebrate our Wedding Anniversary and it lived up to every expectation we could have had. All of the staff were superb, the barman gave us the time of day and was polite and friendly and the Aussie bloke and his missus, from South Africa, who looked after our table were excellent. Full of smiles, keen to please and look after our every need, it would be worth going back just to meet the staff! However, it’s important we mention the food, delicious and beautifully presented, couldn’t fault it. Selection of bread with crackling butter and anchovy butter was very tasty and our mains of the Hake and the Pheasant were first class. Chef’s take on Jaffa cake dessert finished off a superb meal. Reasonably priced for the quality and the setting. We’ll be back. Thank you.

Went into the pub for a glass of wine could not believe the prices sorry to say the view was lovely but will not visit again we are local I’m sure the price reflects tourism I think £19.50 for two glasses of white wine to be over the top shame these prices spoil the experience of a day out to see these lovely places.
