We have stayed twice in this hotel in the last 3 weeks and both times the chef for the evening meal hasn’t turned up. This is not acceptable when you book the meal package. First time we had to go find somewhere to eat the second time on the 12th May 24 the front of house was dealing with a very limited menu in other words if it could be cooked in a microwave you was going to eat if not you had to go elsewhere. And the time from start to finish was over 2 hours . Think we will have to stay elsewhere next time

Martha the delightful lady who greets you was both rude and arrogant. She acted like we were putting her out. The beds were rock solid and that mixed with the noisiest fan system was the making of very little sleep. At breakfast staff stood around in the middle of the restaurant laughing and joking with each other very loudly which we though was very unprofessional!

After a long drive, we was greeted by a young lady at reception, who was very smiley and pleasant. We noted an odour in the corridor on floor 2. It wasn't nice, maybe a damp smell. The room was ok but there was no shower gel in the holder. We had an issue with being hot during the night but after speaking with reception they kindly reduced the temperature and we slept really well thereafter. We never had breakfast so cannot comment. We did however have tea on two of our three nights and this could have been better. Two nights in a row there was no steak and no gammon and the third night we ate somewhere else. The food we received at the hotels restaurant was ok nothing special and nothing to write home about. The staff member taking orders at the restaurant was very pleasnt. He was attentive, polite and extremely courteous, which was an absolute pleasure. A shout out to 'Russel' well done and thank you. One concerning observation was the chef, a gentleman with glasses, handling the fries with his bare hands and no gloves, in full view of the restaurant. This is a serious hygiene issue that needs immediate attention. Overall we enjoyed our stay and we would stay here again in the future. Very good with a little romm for improvement.

I visited Matlock for a specific event. After driving nearly 5 hours the reception and restaurant staff were amazing. Confident, knowledgeable, quick and accommodating.

The location was great and there was always a space in the car park. The breakfast was nice and plentiful, although I never saw any veggie sausages or bacon? The room was clean and large, but it was very hot to sleep in. The air con is not really up to the job and is noisy too. Take ear plugs if you want to sleep with it on. Comfy bed. The bathroom was looking a little tired, with paint peeling off the walls. The bath and shower were lovely, its such a luxury to have a bath in a hotel! We tried to use the restaurant one night, but they were fully booked. We also had a problem at breakfast with it being full, which resulted in a wait too. It is quite a small restaurant for a Premier Inn.

We like Premier Inns:-) For various reasons though we've not been to one in a while, so it was good to see that little had changed. Always a good breakfast (the children gave it a thumbs up each day). However, we've marked this visit down on two counts. Firstly, the chef at the evening meal was clearly new and taking a while to process orders - and not averse to dishing food (including hot chips!) out onto plates with his bare hands! Secondly, our third night was rather disturbed by someone stomping back & forward overhead most of the evening and even a couple of times in the middle of the night. We did inform reception who tried to request some abatement, but we guess it was someone who was unable or unwilling to comply.

Booked an overnight stay to attend a wedding in Bakewell. The staff were lovely and helpful. I had booked 3 rooms for 5 people and assumed they would be close together but they were 201, 217 and 224 so we couldn't even see each other's doors. We coped, but as one member of our party is 91 it was a worry. Anyway the rooms were very comfy. There wasn't a shaver point in the bathroom but an inquiry at reception desk supplied an adaptor. Had dinner and breakfast and the food was great.

There are no opening windows and the room temperature couldn’t be set lower than 19. I need a cool room to sleep in, so I had the worst nights sleep as the room was far too stuffy. Even though outside was at max 13 degrees, the room temperature reached 21 during the day. Was so bad we checked out early and found another hotel. Aside from the room temperature, the room was ok and the bed comfy. If they could sort the temperature it would be an ok hotel. Oh and they advertise early check in, but we arrived at 11am and were told they were short staffed so all rooms would be released at 3pm, they don’t release any they clean before 3pm early to enable early check in.
