Chromotel Self Check-IN

This hotel is odd to say the least. I bet it’s name now and understand it’s meaning Chrom=color. But if felt like I was in a sci-fi picture. No blankets. Just a duvet cover. Cement walls and floor. Had to figure out which switch turned on wall outlets for charging my phone. Bed was very uncomfortable. Noisy and echo filled. I think a mote 6 would have been better. Parking was difficult as their lot was full on e we figured out how to access it. Especially considering the price. This was no bargain.

This is literally the cheapest and most functional place I have ever stayed. Unfortunately, whilst it was cheap, the owners dropped the price between my booking and the date of arrival, so I was effectively 40 francs out of pocket on the reservation, which leaves a very bitter taste The basic concept is a staff-free concrete block using the latest in prison design and furniture. Where a cost can be saved, it has been saved. Which is fine but it's not at all attractive - the room was ugly, ugly, ugly, the bedding was basic and minimalist, the bare concrete floors and concrete painted walls just depressing, You have to carry around a QR code to access the room and building. It worked fine and check-in was relatively simple. The parking is on site but the fact that there are gaps in the trees means it is not in any way secure, as anyone can access. There is a bakery down the road which does a lovely croissant but doesn't sell coffee, and the various snack bars were not open on Saturday morning early, so I ended up buying Aldi coffee a kilometre away. I'm frugal and this was a one night stay just to run a trail race, so I didn't care about the Alcatraz fittings and design, But you would not want to stay more than one night here. On the plus side the room was large if spartan and it had lots of sockets, a free bottle of water and wifi that worked. But it is soul destroying

Positiv: + self check-in zu jeder Tageszeit + Zimmer sehr sauber + Parkplatz Ich war hier für eine Nacht, um mich von der Fahrt zu erholen und am nächsten Tag weiter zu fahren. Leider kann ich mich so nicht erholen. Ab 06:00 Uhr morgens ist der Verkehr unerträglich laut und macht einen erholsamen Schlaf für Menschen welche dies nicht gewohnt sind unmöglich. Hier dürfte ein wenig Geld in die Fenster investiert werden, denn es macht lärmtechnisch keinen Unterschied ob das Fenster offen oder geschlossen ist. Zudem stimmt Preis Leistung nicht. Für diesen Preis hätte ich einiges mehr erwartet.

Everything was as expected mostly, though no AC or restaurant, only a basement room with automated food and drink machines. I didn't try the duvet because of the two body curly hairs I noticed on it… This hotel works without staff, and it's a funny experience 😄

had issues with check-in and later with the room, but phone support was very helpful and sorted things out. No staff on site.
