Just got back and pleasently surprised. Yes it's a 1970 hotel but they have updated where they can. Room suffiant if you want 5 star go to the shereton around the corner. Set in lovely cypress trees right on the sea front small walk away. Breakfast OK fruit breads hot food. Lots of people grabbed loads. Pool bigger than on the photos. Lovely walks all the way to kupari. Supermarket 15 min walk. Small restaurants not far. Boats to cavat and old town regular. Water polo down the road with the local team compition we watched this one evening. Mlini is a lovely small village. I think the hotel is value for money. There are apartments around if you want that. The vibe at Astarea is laid back. Room cleaned everyday. Reception very helpful. I would go back.

We have recently returned from a stay in a villa at the Astarea. Our villa was a little walk away from the hotel but we were given a lift there in a buggy. The villa was a decent size and cleaned every day. We visited Dubrovnik a coupla times and also Cavtat. Mlini is in the middle of both. A good tip is to download Uber if you get a taxi to either as it was half the price of a normal taxi. The pool area is clean and well looked after. The sunbeds are taken within 15 minutes everyday. The gates open at 8 for the rush to get a sunbed. I would get there at 740 and just wait and always got them for my family. There was 3 of us. It’s in a beautiful place but you have to be prepared to walk a distance anywhere. if you’d like to use the supermarket which is a 20 minute walk away in Srebeno and just past the Hotel Sheraton. If I had one gripe about the Astarea it is that there is a lack of information anywhere regarding where you can get drinks, an ice cream or whether you can actually have cold drinks around the pool.although it’s advertised as a snack bar( Oleander) you wouldn’t think so. There is a shop in the hotel selling drinks but surprisingly they don’t have a fridge so be prepared for a warm drink if purchased there. All in all It’s a really nice place to stay but there needs to be more information around about what exactly and from where you can get lunch or a snack by the pool. This place could really do with a pool bar.

We had a lovely twelve night stay at the Astarea in May. You can't ignore that the hotel looks a little tired, especially on the outside, but it really didn't matter to us. All of the staff we met were friendly and hard working. The hotel was very clean and tidy, and once you're in the hotel it doesn't matter what it's like outside! The pool area was modern, and again very clean and well looked after. We were B&B only, and the breakfast was good, but fans of a full English might be a bit less happy. The hotel is in a beautiful bay with amazing views across the water and some spectacular sunsets. There are bars and restaurants within easy walking distance, and you can get the local bus to Dubrovnik or Cavtat. It's also worth walking round the headland to see the abandoned hotels at Kupari.

I’m not sure why Jet2 only class this hotel as a 3 star. I have stayed in worse 4 stars. I stayed in the annexe block directly next door with wonderful views over the bay.(no lift though) First of all, it’s the little things which a lot of hotels don’t do but this hotel does do that really impressed me. A kettle in the room with tea & coffee, a FREE safe (that’s a first for me and very welcome) annddd…hallelujah!! a hotel that cares enough to leave a 750ml glass bottle of water in your room to get you off to a good start. Fine bathroom, excellent balcony, bed ok. Air conditioning unit in corner of room was quite noisy and not very effective but being October, it wasn’t overly warm at night. Breakfast was fine with enough choice, if you get a chance, sit on the outdoor terrace to eat, overlooking the pool and bay, lovely way to start the day. The pool was big with plenty of beds available. This hotel also operates as a saga holidays hotel, so a lot of mature guests, so certainly not noisy. Mlini is quite a low key little town, so the hotel fits in quite well. There is a kiosk near reception to buy your ferry tickets into Dubrovnik at €15 return. Lovely 25 minute trip, so much better than an Uber and the terminal for the ferry is 2 minutes walk. 2 fairly quiet bars just a 3 minute stroll away with a row of waterfront restaurants a little further. Overall I just can’t grumble at all. Note for the manager: Please keep on with the free safe, kettle and bottle of water, it was great to see.

Really well placed hotel in a quiet resort. We were Bed and Breakfast basis. Breakfast was fine with a good choice of hot and cold options.Rooms a bit dated but very clean with a fridge and a kettle for tea and coffee making facilities. Room cleaned daily. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this hotel.

We stayed here 25th September until 1st October. Our room was good, housekeeping very good. The food at this hotel was excellent. Loads of choice. You can sit out on the veranda for your meal when available. The only grumble was there were too many people. One travel agent had a coach load of people going out every day from 8.00 - 5.00. So the dining room was packed with them. At one point someone nearly knocked me over in the rush for the food. I had a deep tissue massage which was a mistake she applied too much pressure and I ached afterwards instead of feeling better.

We visited at the end of July/beginning of August 2023 - peak summer season. We stayed in an Annex room and this was perfectly pleasant. Lovely views out to the bay, good aircon and a small yet comfortable room. The swimming pool is not extensive but large enough and pleasant for a dip. There are not enough loungers here during the main part of the day, but we visited in the late afternoon when it was cooler, given that peak daytime temperatures were ~ 31 degrees! The hotel has a beachfront restaurant called Oleander. This was fabulous and we ate dinner here twice and had a lunch here too. Each time the service was efficient, there was sufficient choice for dairy free, and the food was very good! Personal favourites were the mixed grill platter and the ćevapčići. There is a good drinks list and good wine options - almost all Croatian wines which was great to see, and the Malvaysia was gorgeous. The main hotel building is verging on derelict and really lets this property down. You can see abandoned rooms on the lower level and - as other reviews have referred to - the building is stuck in the 1970s. This does not apply to the Annex, so try and get a room here. The breakfast offering was standard, but of poor quality. The room was cramped and the buffet size was just ridiculously small given how many people were using it. This needs immediate attention, and we actually ended up skipping breakfast one day because we couldn’t be asked to deal with the poor management of breakfast. Would I stay again? Yes. The Annex is pleasant, pool: good, beachside restaurant: saving grace. Would I say that major work needs to take place at this property? Yes. Don’t let the negatives put you off. This is a lovely part of Croatia, slightly out of the bustle of Dubrovnik. Just make sure you select the right room and manage your expectations.

So , it was our first time in Croatia and it's an absolutely fantastic country , so let me give you a couple of items to note if you are thinking of visiting. First of all , before you arrive in this beautiful country, download the Uber app and use it as your pickup at the airport . The taxi drivers will not take card and can be slightly aggressive when they have to drop you at a bank machine! While we are on that topic , make sure you bring plenty of cash with you , as many places do not take card ( Including some restaurants) so bear that in mind. We arrived at this charming hotel and had a nice friendly reception . We were not staying in the main part of the hotel but in the annex building in room 822 which has an amazing sea view from our balcony. The room is quite small but suited us perfectly and has a lovely balcony area to sit out on . There is a small mini fridge in the room and an air conditioning unit which works well. The bed is lovely and comfortable. Our room was spotless when we arrived and a housekeeping turn down service comes through each day . Towels for the sun loungers are provided in your room so no need to bring any with you. The pool area is fantastic and I imagine has had a recent refurb with a wonderful beach bar just down the steps from the pool with refreshments and food served all day . Plenty of sun loungers are available so no issues there! The main hotel area an older building but it is absolutely spotless. I have never seen floors or carpets so clean in a hotel and it's a credit to the team who work here . We had a few drinks in the Piano bar one night as it was stormy and special word of thanks to Davor who chatted with us on all things Irish ! We had breakfast included and it was fine , the usual bacon sausage and egg and pastries should you want them , along with cereals and granola etc . Balcony area is lovely for breakfast in the sun, although the main room is a bit like a dorm hall but I'd only be nit picking on this . We went to Dubrovnik twice ( once by Uber) which was €13 and the second day we had a 40 minute boat trip which was €15 each . Boat trip was really worth it and can be organised by the lady in the booth at reception . We didn't bother with the walking tour of Dubrovnik but opted for the €35 twenty four hour pass which lets you on to the city walls and In to all museums . You can get the pass in the tourist centre just on the left as you enter the main square. Dubrovnik is stunning and Game of thrones is obviously a big theme here and you here of everything been a rip off but it's not too bad.. for example , we had a plate of calamari and fries with two drinks for €28 . Soft drinks and water etc can be expensive and don't forget to bring cash. you do have to have a certain level of fitness for the city walls and it takes about two hours so wear the right footwear! We organised a day trip to Monte***** through the lady in the booth at the hotel and it was a really good day out. It costs €

Such friendly and helpful staff. Our flight was cancelled and we got stuck here, thankfully they made room for us and let us stay for one night free at 3am after having no help from the airline. The beds are very comfy and the annex is modern and very clean. The selection of food could be better and warmer but overall a decent stay. Local beaches and restaurants very gorgeous.
