We really enjoyed our stay at the Royal Lion. Right in the middle of Lyme Regis, plenty of parking. Nice and Clean. Staff were nice.

We live in Lyme Regis and consider the Royal Lion our local. We’ve been coming here for years. But since Hall and Woodhouse took over the food has gone from honest pub grub to gloopy ‘ kit-form’ food. Last night we had a terrible meal. The best I can say is wonderful old building, shame about the food! Pull your sock up Hall and Woodhouse!

Visit Lyme Regis a lot and often stay at the Royal lion , lovely old building with lots of character, comfy beds excellent breakfasts and very attentive and polite staff a great team will definitely be back again soon thank you Hall and Woodhouse.

Started well ... nice room looking out onto bay ... Woken at 7am by builders who were starting refurb of the rooms. Hotel forgot we were booked in so we woke up to drilling and banging. Workmen were wearing ear defenders ... Breakfast awful - tiny portions, avocado stale and toast stone cold. Won't be coming back - real shame as beautiful location. I would like to add the only other positive was the lovely temporary Manager - if it wasn't for her, this complaint would have been escalated further.

Visited today to spend time with family. Lyme being in the middle as a meeting place for us. Choose the royal lion, none of us had been before. We had a lovely lunch! Sorry we couldn't eat it all!! Food was well made and the staff were welcoming and professional. We will definitely return. Many thanks.

Came here for a couple of beers and then returned 2 hours later for 2 burgers and the same round of 2 beers. Disappointed that we were over-charged the second time by £4. Just couldn’t face addressing this at the time, I guess that’s what they bank on.

Cold, dead, no festive atmosphere Booked a festive meal with friends. Very disappointing. Would not recommend or go again. Staff were nice Food average, had the festive menu after a rude phone call from staff and managers to cancel this the day before our meal after booking in October. No atmosphere, no music, no crackers not festive.

I cannot rate the Royal Lion more highly! We live near Lyme and decided to bring the kids down after school to have a look at the Christmas lights and have dinner whilst we had a drink. This was our first visit and it's a truly wonderful place, log fire, great drinks and the children's menu was great. Both my kids polished off their dinners (almost unheard of) and the staff were fantastic with them. Chocolate ice cream pot each for pudding included and a little activity pack too. Main menu look very yummy and we have already said we will come back again and all eat there next time! The building is beautiful too, toilets very clean which in my eyes is a very good sign! Also, it was 4:45pm and nothing was too much trouble, made kids dinner asap which when you have a hungry 3 and 5 year old you can't ask better!!! Give it a go, you won't be disappointed!

Hall-Woodhouse cannot be praised enough how they have turned around the Royal Lion [ Resident of Lyme 30 years] * Best beer in town. Log fire. Excellent service. Quality food. * This will now become [when the pensioner can afford eating & drinking out ]. * Do you you do an old fart resident discount day? * The only let downs small portions of greenery on the plate * The staff at Harbour Inn Axmouth have ruined a wonderful pub and should be sacked [Hall-Woodhouse ]
