Merrils Beach Resort II

We stayed at Merrill’s for 3 weeks, this was our first visit to this resort. We used to stay at Grand Pineapple, but of course that’s gone now. We saw quite a few people that we knew from the Pineapple, both at Merrill’s and other resorts up and down the beach. Merrill’s is a lot like the Pineapple, rooms were bigger, but beach was smaller. We were in room 710, it was fine, the shower leaked, we told front desk, we were told to put a towel down. Take an extension cord, no plug in bathroom, only a couple in the whole room. Housekeeping did a great job, clean towels whenever you wanted them. Food was good, not a lot of variety, we did eat out a few times. No light beer, no wine unless you bought it. We took 3 boxes, so that worked out ok. One problem that wasn’t Merrill’s fault was loud music a couple nights every week coming from across the road, once til 4a.m. We think it was coming from Kenny’s Italian restaurant, we were told they had after hours parties. Apparently the police don’t enforce the noise ordinances. The Wi-Fi was free, it worked ok. The day we checked in, I asked about the safe, was given the lock, I asked about a fee for it, was told no charge for safe. The day we checked out, we were told it was $69.00. I said no, relayed what I had been told, guy at the desk tried to call manager but couldn’t get him, so he said ok, no charge. If it matters to you, make sure when you’re checking in about cost. All in all we enjoyed our stay, everyone was great, employees didn’t wear name tags so I can’t remember the names, but all were very nice, friendly, and helpful.

I usually come here with my family and this has been one of the worst experiences EVER!! The guest services at the front desk was very insulting with asking me if the person I came with is a part of my party! When asked for more towels I got the wrong set and also when I went to get it myself there was an extra wait time as none was on property. The bartender had a disgusting attitude I could puke my drink with his non friendliness, definitely will turn guests away. When checking out the way they were going on about their second key I’m like do they really think I would want to keep their second key the other person was on the beach when I was checking out and the way the guy at the front desk made it seem like I would like their key was SUCH a turnoff!!!! I WILLL NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN. The servers at breakfast and dinner were nice and as always a big shoutout to the lifeguards!! The hospitality never changes when we stay here amongst them! The entire front desk needs to be FIRED and that bartender!

Lovely hotel right on the beach. Rooms were spacious and beds were comfy. The beach is what really makes this hotel, lt really was a one minute walk to the beach which also had free sunbeds. The staff also made our stay special the receptionist was so helpfulhome f and friendly, Rockie on the bar was lovely and the security man was helpful. If you want a budget stay in Jamaica, this is the place to stay, very secure also. The bar/restaurant on site has a good range of meals, could offer more at nightime but you can easily walk a few steps along the beach to the restaurants a few doors away. If you want 5 star all inclusive luxury, this isnt the place for you but if you want a homely reasonably priced home from home, this is the place for you. Just one tip, bring a hairdryer, they dont have them.

We have stayed at this wonderful hotel for the fifth time since 2011. The property is barely 30 meters wide and maybe 200 deep. A small footpath meanders through the complex. A few older bungalows and also newly built ones, which sometimes have two or three floors. These buildings are reminiscent of Venice in color and are decorated with beautiful wooden structures. The stairs are also made of wood. Countless palm trees and other trees run through the entire area. Like a small jungle. We have not stayed in a nicer facility in the whole world and the world is big. The new rooms are very comfortable, the older ones are no less pleasant. The bathrooms are slightly smaller than those in the new rooms. The room service is great, the maids very reliable. We are here for 4 weeks this year. It is therefore of particular importance that the mattresses are good. And they are awesome. The rooms all have a fridge, a kettle and a container where you can get ice cubes. The breakfast, see photo, is very simple, tailored to American standards. But toast, butter and various egg dishes were enough for us. There are about 30 rooms in the hotel and sun loungers on the beach, which are very aesthetic and comfortable. About 15 umbrellas, but they are completely sufficient, because there are also a good stock of trees in the sun garden and plenty of tree shade. More palm trees have been planted and will provide more shade. There are various beach vendors, we love the food and drink offer, but they are really not pushy and are not allowed in the area of the sun loungers. I like to repeat myself, the facility is awesome. The maids have been here for a very long time, we always find the rooms very, very clean. The WiFi system works very well. The COVID rules, especially wearing a mask and disinfecting hands, are well observed. Additional points have been set up with sinks and disinfection. The beach is awesome too. Very clean Caribbean sand. You go into the water with a slight slope, no coral, no stone and no sea urchins. The perfect beach, which also stretches several kilometers along the sea as if pulled by a string. Lots of options for a drink. And Negril is to the west, which means there's a sunset every day. You can go to elegant West End restaurants in Negril, but you can also pick up simple fare at stands, jerk chicken is a hit here. If you don't want to eat at the hotel. (Cesar's salad with chicken here is world class, calamari rings not really) Cash, ie US dollars or Jamaican dollars, you can get them at any cash machine (ATM) with an EC card. The courses are almost without fees, in contrast to the credit card. When you arrive there is one right at the entrance to the small airport or on the opposite side of the street in a shopping center. If the hotel compl
