The Swan Hotel and Spa

Wonderful weekend spent in the gorgeous Lake District. The Love Nest was stunningly beautiful with everything we could possibly need to hand. Our evening meal was delicious with every course being cooked to perfection. Our spa day on the Sunday was luxurious, and made us both feel so relaxed. An amazing stay, thank you so much.

The hotel was nice shame not enough shower gel for us both to use The spa was nice but shame tiles missing already in the shower area stain on bed balance Staff nice but not over friendly my steak was fatty but the staff did remove my wine of the bill for this Hotel nice and modern but the big stain on the carpet and skirt board in the corridor let’s it die.

Really disappointed with our stay at the swan hotel, February 2024. The condition of the room was far from desirable with issues including, mould on the window, coffee stains on the floor and a dirty bathroom, to name a few. The air conditioning was out of use which made for a very hot uncomfortable stay, if we hadn’t have paid as much as we had we wouldn’t have stayed at the site. Would definitely not recommend for the price paid (£279) The TV signal in the bar area kept dipping in at out, the majority of chairs in the bar needed reupholstered and the afternoon tea was very small for the price (£25pp), I was expecting 1 each not 1 to share. Although the spa was more crowded than some, the facilities were very good and my treatment was just what I needed. For the price of the stay and the “luxury” suggested online we were very shocked and disappointed and unfortunately wouldn’t be back.

We came for a spa morning and I would highly recommend The Swan. staff were friendly and facilities were clean. Loved the outside facilities of the sauna and the swim through jacuzzi . The location is also really lovely, we had a lovely hot chocolate also

My first stay at The Swan and certainly not my last! It was gorgeous from the minute I stepped in the door to the smell and sound of a roaring cosy fire at reception. All the staff are so welcoming. Went to Louise’s class for Pilates in the evening, she was brilliant! Dinner and breakfast were both excellent. Room spotless! Highly recommend a visit to the spa the team are highly skilled and dedicated! Looking forward to my next visit!

Been here many times before , never again! Had to move rooms 311 due to ripped wallpaper & broken shower. Upgraded room given on ground d floor 109 which was just as bad , filthy bathroom which had not been cleaned , could not use and very tired in places . Neighbours argued until 4am, could not contact reception to try to sort them out as they switch the answer phone on after 8pm! Felt unsafe to leave the room due to the nature of the argument going on next door . When raised with reception the next morning an apology was given but refused to compensate. The hotel seems to have really dropped its standards. The pool was cold and shabby looking . The water machine never had any cups so unless you bring your own bottle it’s not useable after the sauna . Floors in changing rooms dirty and slippy . Ladies Toilets in the restaurant had no toilet paper and empty toilet rolls scattered everywhere. Doors did not lock due to broken locks. Clearly had not been checked or cleaned all day .

The photos for this hotel look really beautiful- but the reality is something different. Some great interior design, but poor management, poor hygiene and overall poor organisation. Have just returned from weekend break- and am so glad to be home! First room assigned at check in was woeful- dated, tired, dirty. Nothing like online photos. Marched down to reception to complain and was reassigned a refurbished room, but had to change rooms Fri and Sat night. Whilst refurbished rooms are much nicer, they still feel dirty and uncared for. First thing we were greeted with on entry was broken pucture with cracked glass, followed by chipped paint, skirting board, stained carpet and bed linen. Booked spa break for Sat afternoon. Checked in for 2pm treatment to use facilities to be told not only did they not have a booking for us, but also all the other spa facilities were out of action until next weekend! No one saw fit to tell us this at time of booking! Luckily someone else had cancelled and we managed to have our planned massage but, after massage we just had to sit in bedroom as there were no other facilities to relax in. Complained to manager at checkout and spa charges were removed. During 2 days there, I made 3 trips to reception to complain- and each time there were other guests similarly complaining about rooms and cleanliness. All in all, this hotel has a nice setting and superficially pretty decor in parts, as well as good food- but it is really let down by poor care and management.

Excellent 3 night stay at the Swan Hotel & Spa Booked to celebrate my wife’s Birthday. We have stayed here on numerous occasions over the last 20yrs Receptionist on arrival was friendly and efficient and wished us a Happy Birthday occasion Stayed in a splendid Garden view room and it was perfect The very nice hotel porter deliverd a lovely flower arrangement and then the housekeepers arrived with a display of Birthday balloons. Special mention to Adella and Hannah for their wonderful welcoming and extra attention we felt, a credit to the Management Breakfasts were very good And a special thank you to the Chef for his skills and attention for our special Birthday Meal

Birthday treat I came here for my Bday in November & it was SUCH a lovely day. The SPA facilities were great, it wasn't busy so we had plenty of time in and out the pool, sauna, jacuzzi, steam etc. I would say to be careful as it can get slippy outside and around the pool area. The views when you're outdoors are delightful, very ZEN vibes. We had a lovely waiter in the restaurant who gave me a complimentary glass of Prosecco as it was my Birthday which was very kind of him, very much appreciated (I forgot his name unfortunately). The food was lovely and filling too❤️
