The Clifton is a no frills, no nonsense hotel with friendly accommodating staff. My room met all my needs with a comfortable bed, a good en-suite shower and the room was warm but not too hot throughout the night. The staff interacted in a very friendly manner with guests who were already at the hotel by the time I arrived and there was clearly a good rapport between them all playing pool and shooting the breeze together. The only downside is that the hotel is located outside the city centre and it is clearly better to stay right in the centre if you are visiting Newcastle, but I would recommend the Clifton for its excellent value and pleasant atmosphere.
