Beware, this hotel shows up on many booking sites but IT IS CLOSED. We showed up for our reserved room after a bus ride from Florence and location was enclosed by a cyclone fence and was closed up tight. They never bothered to let us know and I even obtained directions to the Hotel a few days before from a booking site.

Stayed here as part of a tour group but a solo traveller. I found the room comfortable and clean and staff were friendly. It is located within walking distance of the old town but there is also bars and restaurants just downstairs. Nice breakfast also served. Quaint town with a beautiful Duomo

Run down Hotel in nice central area. First of all, the location is great, and the city anyways. The Hotel has seen better days, air con not working to save power. The shower worked but nearly fell apart, so be careful. The breakfast looked nice at first, but the bread was old and the coffee was a Desaster. It was undrinkable. The stuff was friendly but couldn’t fix our issues. We asked for a lunch box for our last day and for 14€ we got a banana, scan of Fanta and a old, unbeatable bread with a slice of ham and cheap cheese, no butter. We had to throw it away.

We stayed 2 nights in beautiful Orvieto (highly recommend). Here are some good’s and bad’s regarding this hotel; Good: 1) nice breakfast and lovely breakfast room 2) room was spacious and clean 3) bathroom was big enough although the shower was tiny but there was plenty of hot water (unlike our last place in Rome) 4) location was in a quiet area of old town side of Orvieto so away from the big crowds 5) free water bottles in the fridge (which came in handy) Bad: 1) we were on the 3rd floor and the AC didn’t work. We couldn’t sleep and had to go find the front desk man at 1:30 am. He said the AC got ‘blocked’ and he would reset it and then handed us a fan (exactly like what we read in a previous review!). The next day we asked the front desk to make sure it worked but again the next night it also did not work. We had finished 35 degree heat during the day and we were hot and tired! The rotten part is that is seemed that the manager/owner really didn’t care about our concern. I’m sure this happens a lot as people usually stay only for one night. 2) the shower was so tiny that when you turn around you bump the tap off 3) room key is attached to a large wooden animal which is difficult to carry around 4) no key in the room for the safe so you need to ask for one 5) pillows were rock hard 6) Wi-Fi was cut off at 8:00 am the morning we were leaving, although checkout wasn’t until 11:00. This made it difficult to check emails prior to leaving SUMMARY: 1) Orvieto is a beautiful, peaceful place to visit - you can easily spend 2-3 nights there the Duomo is magnificent - go inside and compare the ceilings to the Sistine Chapel 2) take the local bus (2.2 euro one way) to Civiti di Bagnoregio. Wear good walking shoes as you will be walking both UP and DOWN hill. Go early in the morning to avoid the crowds. We took the 8:30 am Cortel (spelling?) bus from Orvieto (tickets at the tobacco shop at the top of the Funicular). The ride was about 45 minutes and you get to enjoy the beautiful countryside. We returned on the 12:30 pm bus back to Orvieto and then still had the rest of the day and evening to enjoy, relax, and watch the sunset (walk to the far west side of the town’s edge… simply magnificent) 3) make sure you research your hotels. Staying up top in Orvieto allows you to truly enjoy the town. Prices are cheaper below but not worth the time in my opinion. 4) sit on the steps of the duomo and just enjoy the atmosphere

The old hotel is in centre of city and very convenient. It has pitched roof and our small room #32, was excessively hot due to restrictions on use of air conditioning, by day and by night. Inadequate power points provided, especially near bed. Breakfast quite good. Key operated safe rather small.

Orvieto is truly magical and very hot in August. An air conditioned bedroom is far from a luxury - when it’s 35*c outside. On night 1 we had the incessant buzz of the AC but zero cold air. We complained only to be told AC is expensive to run so it’s switched off « at certain times » Day 2 saw no improvement despite empty promises. I overheard other guests also mentioning AC problems. Frankly customer service was v poor, the hotel is way below 4*, not even international news channels available on the tiny 12” tv screen !!! Definitely go visit Orvieto Definitely don’t stay here if you care about service and value for money It was clean, with nice bed linen … hence I didn’t rate is “terrible” - just poor !!!

Hotel in ottima posizione.
