Atlantic Hotel Newquay

Based on a x2 night stay, Fri - Sun In no particular order Pros# * Beautiful location with stunning views * Adequate parking * 10-minute walk if that into the town / Harbour area * 15-minute walk to main Fistral Beach. * Staff we encountered lovely and helpful * Room was kept spotless, and what we could see of the hotel interior * Big room and plenty of storage * Grand looking interior parts of it. * Freshly cooked breakfast using nice produce. Cons# * Parts of the exterior were filthy and need freshing up. * Lift was broken entire stay and a pain having to lug bags up several flights of stairs and in general up n down. Many times saw elderly people some with walking sticks taking a breather * Room decor a real letdown in terms of paint hanging off ceilings and what looked like damp * Bath tubs are like ice rinks when taking a shower and need baths with fitted grip strips * Was a hot weekend and could not open the windows wide enough due to security devices. Therefore, room was uncomfortably hot * Exterior windows were dirty, hindering the sea views * Bar drinks were expensive Summary: I struggled to give a 3 rating but only did so based on the lovely hard-working staff and some of the qualities that do exist in this hotel. I'd say to the owner/s - Make this hotel great again as I'm sure it once was, then you can demand the £ you are charging. After driving several hours and experiencing some of what I have listed in the cons, it was a bit of a letdown. I did take some photos of room decor, but my wife would not let me take photos of the exterior in case our friends who invited us here saw me - if you get my drift. This grand hotel deserves the best, and so do its customers and think you need to dig deep and revive it.

Such a difficult review as this hotel could be such a wonderful place, views are some of the best ever, yes outside looks like needs quite a bit of work yet walk through the door and reception area is top class, art deco at its best and leads into the wonderful staircase and up to the rooms, this is where it fails, enter the room to unclean carpets, patched up walls and views tarnished by bird poo, 2 single beds pushed together and you’ll find yourself waking up having rolled into the gap between the beds. Such a shame as having asked for some attention from reception twice we were completely ignored, so disappointed in this. So to breakfast, a great cooked English on warm plates, wonderful but again let down but things that could be sorted, lack of pastries and some mornings very limited fruit. Come on Atlantic, you can do so much better and make yourself into the top hotel in Newquay

This hotel is the worst I've ever seen, run down to where it needs to close, unsafe pools/spa non compliant on all heath and safety matters, falling down ceilings damp rooms,unsafe drinking water,rotten balconys, unhygienic kitchen, reporting to the council.

Hotel lovely,no issues what so ever however the lady on reception took a duplicate payment and we are still waiting to get our money back.Numeroud phone calls and emails which have been ignored and we are £120 down.So be aware of duplicate payments as we have no idea when we will get our money back!

We booked to stay at the Atlantic for three nights following reading reviews. We were not disappointed, from the moment we arrived the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Because the lift was not working , all our luggage was taken up to our room for us. The room was exceptional with amazing views over the Atlantic. We had dinner in the restaurant and the hake we both ate was cooked to perfection followed by a delicious cheese cake. The hotel is themed in its original decor Art Deco style , every where is amazingly clean with great pictures and statues . It was a pleasure to walk around the hotel which had great facilities and I regret not having the time to go for swim in the indoor pool. We had a problem with the shower but moved rooms and eventually were upgraded. To a suite, again with great views and a superb room and en-suite. This issue was well handled by a front of house member of staff , Frederick who was extremely helpful throughout our stay. I could continue to was lyrical about the hotel and its staff, but I will leave the reader to make their own judgement, I know you will be in for an amazing stay with brilliant customer service.

This hotel is in a perfect location at the top of the hill! Perfect views out over Newquay, we went for the Luxury Suite. The positives 1. Very Big Room 2. Very clean 3.Warm and Comfortable 4. Perfect view 5. Bed very comfortable 6. Lovely bathroom with bath 10/10 7. Mini Fridge perfect 8. Plenty storage 9. Lovely communal areas stunning 10. Free Parking 11. Pool with a view + hot tub Negatives 1. No Breakfast at that price could included even continental 2. TV to small 3. Furniture broken out dated no coffee table we did ask but they did nothing about it. 4. Lift Broken god knows how long for 5. Wall lights broken and switch 6. Light bulbs out basic! 7. Plug for bath didn’t work very well Enjoyed our stay would stay again but small issues for a luxury suite need improving. Once you walk in to the hotel and see the communal areas then walking in to room was a very underwhelming.

Everything is just perfect in this hotel, warm and cozy rooms, sauna and swimming pool, bar and restaurant. I especially like the location! Friendly staff, they immediately sent an apology message about the elevator not working)) but the staff helped with things upstairs) we are bikers, we travel everywhere in the world with one night stopover)))

We stayed for one night at the end of March. We had a good room, and lovely breakfast. We ate in the hotel in the evening where the girls seemed very over stretched. We waited for our booked table, we waited to be served a drink whilst we were waiting for our table. Once seated at our table, we waited again for someone to take our order. The order was placed only for one of the girls to come back and apologise that a chosen dish was not available. We waited again for our starter which was smoked mackerel pate, olives and salad leaves, and bread. On being given our starter, I was surprised to see only two olives. I didn’t question at the time as the girls had been working extremely hard and seemed stressed. On reflection, once home, I queried this starter but the manager stated it didn’t include olives. If you look at the starter menu today, it clearly does. Whilst this is a very trivial matter, I feel misled at the cost of £13.50 for this starter. We probably would not stay again.

Decided to book for a cheeky trip away with my husband over bank holiday weekend last minute. Chose the Atlantic Hotel as it had a spa, but to be honest we paid next to nothing so wasn’t expecting very much. We had a wonderful time and were very impressed by the building, the facilities, the staff and the food. On arrival our room wasn’t ready, however the lovely lady on reception made sure we were comfortable in the bar and got us a complimentary drink - which was a lovely touch we thought. We paid £15.50 extra for breakfast each and it was very much worth it..cereal, continental selection and a variety of cooked dishes on an all you can eat basis..the view from the dining room was lovely. The room was huge with a separate bath and shower, tea/coffee making facilities, fridge, large TV and balcony. Very clean. Wasn’t a sea view but was nice to look out over the town. Bed was so comfortable, we both slept really well. Was able to book in with the beauty therapist for a massage with less than a hours notice and it was absolutely wonderful, highly recommend using her if you can - the QR code to book is in reception and in your room. Pool is lovely and wasn’t busy. Knocking one point off as the jacuzzi was rubbish and steam room was out of order. Will definitely revisit in future, we’re not too far away so will be sure to pop down again when we’re in need of a little R&R.
