B&B Villa Sumrak Plitvica

We found this amazing B&B when passing through Plitvice lake. We did not make any bookings but hosts offered us a lovely family apartment as we reached their property late evening. Maja, Marko and Miro are amazing hosts, very kind, professional, supportive. They gave us recommendations regarding national park visit, as well as went above and beyond to ensure our family has lovely stay. They accommodated our two kids during the breakfast time, as both have food allergy. The place has great location, walking distance to the lake, very clean, comfortable and nice surroundings. There are couple of nice restaurants nearby as well as they offer simple food at the property. Great Service, thank you so much!

We were welcomed by Maia, the hostess. Our room was spacious. We had all toiletries included, plenty of towels and the whitest bed sheets. Beds were very comfortable. Although we could not serve dinner there, since our kids are really picky, the host recommended a restaurant in the area. However they served us a delicious breakfast- w homemade cookies, jams and fresh veggies & fruits. The info provided regarding the Plitvice park were very useful, made our trip much easier.

Great place with super hosts. We did last minute reservation yesterday afternoon and the host welcomed us early night. Very good rooms, nice atmosphere, delicious breakfast. Nice place in the Plitvice park, across the lakes in something like an ethno village. Unofficial Entrance 3 to the park nearby. Highly recommended if you wish to enjoy the area.

We spent 4 nights at Villa Sumrak, which was the last stop on our 2 week trip to Croatia. We truly saved the best for last. Let’s start with the usual stuff: - Room: quiet, spotless, comfortable, spacious. We had a sitting area and small kitchen in our room as well, but we didn’t make as much use of those spaces because we were too busy enjoying the outdoor patio space and the excellent cooking of our hosts! - Meals: For a little bit extra you can have breakfast every morning and dinner every evening. The breakfast is more than plenty to fill you until dinner time, and dinner is fantastic as well. We had a 3-course meal every night and were not disappointed. Miro (the father) is very knowledgeable about wine, and had a little something for everybody, even someone (like me!) who claims not to like wine. - Location: Villa Sumrak is in a quiet location near the northwest part of Plitvice National Park. Google maps didn’t have a problem finding the place, and if we could find it in the dark, I’m guessing most could also find it with ease. Because you are on the northwest side of the park, you are usually able to see the falls in the opposite order as many other visitors, minimizing crowds and lines. If you aren’t sure what to do in the park, (or with your day in general) Marko (the eldest son) is more than happy to help you plan during or after breakfast. What makes Villa Sumrak the best spot to stay, however, is truly the family themselves. They are always working to make sure you enjoy your stay. For example, we made a miscalculation on travel time and ended up arriving quite late. We didn’t realize we had the wrong number to call them and let them know until we parked in their parking area. Come to find out, Marko had been also been attempting to contact us to make sure we were okay and weren’t lost or broken down on the road somewhere. While we were fine, I honestly think that if we WERE broken down, Marko and his brother would have come and helped us. The whole family sets such a high standard of service to their guests, it is rare to see any of them even sit down. My husband and I love to travel because we love to discover new places, have new experiences, and make new friends. I feel like we achieved all of these things while staying with the Sumrak family. After this awful pandemic, it was so wonderful to sit and share a bottle of wine (or two) with such pleasant company. I strongly urge you to not only stay at Villa Sumrak during your visit to Plitvice Lakes, but to stay with them an extra day or two, take some time to relax, enjoy the beautiful scenery, and the peace and quiet. You will be glad you did.

We spent two nights at Villa Sumrak when we visited Plitvice Lakes last week, and really enjoyed our stay. We had a huge apartment that was very quiet, wonderful natural light and comfortable beds and furniture. It also had air conditioning, but was cool enough that we did not need it. The location was great for visiting the parks, about a ten minute walk to the boat that took you to the upper lakes. A couple minute drive to parking if you did not want to drive. We took both breakfast and dinner during our visit, and Marko and his siblings did a wonderful job preparing meals. Grilled steak one night and mixed grill the second night, along with salad and dessert. They do have vegetarian offerings as well. Nice selection of local beer and wine that you could do by the glass of the bottle. Breakfast was a mix of breads, meat and fruit, and they prepared eggs however you wanted them as well. It was so nice not having to drive into town for meals, as we could grab sandwiches and snacks in the park during the day. Overall a great stay, and we will return to the property if we ever get a chance to go back to the lakes.
