We booked at The Humewood on our parents recommendation due to wonderfull memories they had from years ago and even as little as 5 years ago. On arrival, reception had my name COMPLETELY wrong after spelling it out for them twice over the phone. I also received no booking confirmation via email as promised. After a long day we wanted to get something cold from the bar, as advertised on their website…staff just said sorry there is no bar anymore. We drove elsewhere and had some drinks and dinner. Once we got to our rooms it really got intetesting, i asked Reception to check why our AC doesnt work, when we returned after dinner i was told that i can move to a different room where the AC is working…the room was half the size and the AC very noisy. We wanted to have a shower, no hot water and didnt feel like calling downstairs again. Before bed, my wife wanted some tea, the kettle smelled of stail milk, and after calling downstairs from our cellphones as the inroom phones dont work to ask for some creamer which was not stocked, we waited 25min for someone to bring us 2 X Sachets of creamer. We slept and the beds and linen was comfortable. Next morning, woke up around 8am, and was told by Parents that again there is no hot water in the shower. Management said that they will gladly switch on the geazer….8:20am…so we decided to go have breakfast in the mean time. The coffee we got was ok, server very new or still training but very unsure about what we order. We ordered Eggs Benedict, which has the similar description as the Sunrise i think its called, only for the waiter to come bacn after 5 min saying they dont have Eggs Benedict. We asked for Brown Bread with our breakfast and after 10min h server came back and asked if White Bread is ok, after telling us they have 3 types of bread. With this we have had enough and got up and drove elsewhere again where we had a lovely breakfast. I would be very happy if Management can contact me on our horrible experience. I also understand that Covid dealt all a bad blow, bad with any sort of OK Management, this hotel can be what it used to be. FIND SOMEONE TO TRAIN THE STAFF AND MANAGE THE HOTEL.
