First, location was beautiful. The horizon pool was great, there was good snorkelling right off the beach, though there was quite a strong current. Our bure was spacious, but there was no table and chairs inside so that we could sit and eat if we wished or read a book. The lighting in the fare was very poor, and the only way we could read was to hang the bedside lights on a hook above the bed to be able to see. The ceiling fan was adequate enough for us. Noise from other fares and the village behind us was sometimes quite intrusive, as there were no windows, just flyscreens with timber slats to keep out the light. Housekeeping was hit and miss, and on one occasion the new sheets were grey and had a couple of stains on them, which was not pleasant. On arrival at Breakas (after midnight) we didn’t receive a welcome drink, which would have been good as it was still quite warm. We received an envelope with vouchers for the inclusions in our package, but we didn’t receive a list of the days and times of some of our activities, eg the village visit and cooking class. We didn't receive this information until 2 days later after asking again at the front desk, and as a result we missed out on some of these, which was disappointing. The breakfasts were very basic, fruit, cereals, bread etc, but there was no filtered or percolated coffee provided, just instant coffee sachets, which was poor. If we wanted a decent coffee we had to go to the bar and order and pay for it. Food, for the most part, was very good and we were pleasantly surprised at the quality and price of it. However, we booked a table for the Seafood Platter night, and we were looking forward to crab, lobster, prawns etc, which was clearly advertised in our room folder. However, when we got our meal, we received instead a large casserole pot with a mixed seafood dish instead, with garlic bread for dipping in the sauce (and, to be fair, the dish was very tasty). When we questioned this, we were told that there was no lobster, crabs etc available, and that they had not been serving the seafood platter for some time, this was what was being served instead. I mentioned that there was still a photo of a seafood platter in their advertising, but the waitress said that it shouldn’t still be advertised as a platter! We were not happy, and neither were several other diners who had ordered the platter. This was our 5th visit to Vanuatu, and while Breakas Beach was in a good location, we would probably not return to this particular resort.
