We had an absolutely fantastic two day stay at Savannah Lodge. The staff were universally friendly, helpful and considerate, often giving up their own personal time to make you feel special. We were always treated like VIPs. The guides for the walks were knowledgeable and keen to cater for the needs of everyone in the group, again going the extra mile to ensure we had the best time ever. Accommodation is clean and comfortable, and the food excellent, especially given the remoteness of the lodge. Environmental consciousness doesn't have to be Spartan. Top work, guys n dolls.

Great facilities given the remote location & accessibility. Very nice meals, storage of red wine needs attention due to warm climate plus body lotion in cabins to reduce wastage (rancid from afternoon heat buildup). ‘Coffee machine issues’ need to be managed better during periods of full capacity.

If you’ve made it this far into the Bungles there are precious few serviced accommodation options and this is probably the best. It’s not nirvana but given the remote location, it is very good. The lodgings are a measurable improvement on tents, the staff are efficient and helpful, and the comestibles wholesome and tasty. This is reputed to be the only accommodation in the Bungles with a swimming pool. The good: our cabin (19) – two single beds – was clean, comfortable, airy and pleasantly appointed. Everything expected was there and it all worked as expected. The compact bathroom worked well as did the plumbing. The not so good: the cabin is fairly compact so it’s good for sleeping and changing only and there’s no air-conditioning, just a noisy pedestal fan. There is also no Wifi anywhere in the lodge and very limited Optus service – apparently.

Fabulous accommodation and amenities for such a remote location. The cabins were top quality and the provision of an extra blanket was certainly needed for the cold mornings in May! The fire pit was an exceptional touch and also helped for the cool evenings. The food and wine was delicious - kudos to the kitchen staff. The communal setting for the deck and dining room was great to meet up with fellow travellers and discuss adventures. (Ladies - BYO travel hairdryer)

The lodge is designed to blend into the environment while providing a relaxed and comfortable place to stay to explore Purnululu, aka the Bungle Bungles. The staff are very welcoming and helpful, the buffet style breakfasts and dinners were delicious. Tea and coffee are available 24/7 in the dining room. We enjoyed our afternoon coffee and evening drinks on the veranda and chose to eat dinner there beside the fire pit. Accommodation is in individual cabins, with en-suite bathrooms, a short distance from the dining and living area. Furnishings are attractive and of high quality but minimal: comfortable bed, bedside tables, blanket box, and electric fan, two coat-hangers and a double power point. The en-suite bathroom was well equipped with extra shelves around the small vanity. There is no frig, kettle, iron or air conditioning in the rooms. The “windows” are gauze, no glass, with very well fitted louvre shutters. We were very grateful for the extra blanket in the blanket box. The lodge offers ground transport to/from the air***** as well as tours to allow guests to explore the north and south sections of Purnululu. Road access needs a high clearance four-wheel drive vehicle to navigate the very rough road and numerous creek crossings. It takes 2-3 hours to travel the 52km from the highway to the park entrance. There is limited OPTUS connectivity in the park but no Telstra connectivity.

Excellent stay at the Savannah Lodge in the Bungles! Loved everything about our stay. The Cabin was excellent - well stocked and very clean. Slept well at night since it was cool and enjoyed the quilt. Food was excellent with lots of choices for breakfast and dinner. Loved eating on the deck outside. Went on the guided hiking tours which provided knowledgeable guides, air conditioned small 4 wheel drive buses, morning tea with muffins, amazing lunches, and afternoon tea when we returned with fresh fruit and tasty cookies. The Bungles are beautiful and staying in the Lodge within the park enhanced out experience. Beautiful night sky with lots of stars - the Milky Way!! Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Loved the bon fire at night on the deck and the bar. Pool was appreciated after a hot day of hiking. Highly recommend!!!!

Our cute little cabin had plenty of louvres to open; pity there wasn't much breeze to catch. A pedestal fan was provided but we didn’t want that on at night. The beds were made with doonas even though the overnight temperature was in the high teens. A cotton blanket would have been more suitable. It was good to see that shampoo/conditioner/soap dispensers (containing sandalwood products) were used rather than lots of little bottles. Tea and coffee could be made in the dining room anytime and enjoyed there or brought back to the cabin. Meals were eaten on the deck which was very pleasant in the evening and early morning. There was a good range of food in the buffet and often something a little different to usual. The open kitchen was behind the buffet and the staff were very cheerful.

We flew from Kununurra with Aviair to Savannah Lodge, staying a night and had tours both days. The pilots both days did a great job, banking over the Bungle Bungles, Lake Argyle and the Argyle diamond mine site and giving us so much information. They did a fantastic job. Both were lovely ladies, Emma and ?Renae. When we arrived we had morning tea and then went on a 4WD bus tour, with guides, Wally and Ivan, to the Domes and Cathedral Gorge, where we sat and enjoyed a delicious lunch in the cool of Cathedral Gorge. Our guides were so knowledgeable and friendly. We then went to Savannah Lodge for the night, while the day trippers flew back to Kununurra. We relaxed by the pool and bar then walked to their Sunset spot before enjoying a delicious buffet meal at the lodge. After a busy day, we went to our cabin (no ac in this remote location but a fan was provided. Night temps were quite cool.) The next day, after a great breaky, we met our tour guide, Cheryl. We were lucky enough to enjoy a private tour with this fantastic, friendly guide. We visited Stone Henge, Mini Palms walk, Echidna Chasm, and Kungkalnayi Lookout. Because there were only two of us, not a bus load, our day was more flexible, with extra pic opportunities as well. Another afternoon tea was enjoyed at the lodge before we flew back on a scenic flight to Kununurra with Emma. I highly recommend this tour of Purnululu for anyone not wanting to drive out and camp. You get to see the beauty and majesty of the park in comfort, with the benefit of seeing it all from the air, and gaining valuable knowledge from your guides.
