Great Hotel for a quiet get away. Beautiful grounds with terrific views. The rooms were beautiful, luxurious if you upgraded to a suite. little isolated in a smaller village. There is a Suttle service fir excursions. Handy for sure. Helpful cheerful staff.

We were accommodated at the San Lorenzo hotel in Italy, Lettere, together with a group of Romanian tourists through the Senyor Voiaje program organized by the Christian Tour agency. We received, like the whole group, a room with a view to the inside of the hotel, more precisely to 3 hoods from the hotel canteen. I requested to change my room to another one with a nicer view, but I was told that there were no more rooms available, although during my entire stay there, apart from our group, the hotel was almost empty maximum 7-8 people from other countries. In all these rooms, the bathroom was more like that of a 2-star hotel, it had a tiny shower cabin (an overweight person could not enter the cabin) the shower consisted of a pipe fixed high on the wall, the water falling directly on the head. We wanted to have breakfast on the terrace that I saw in the pictures on the Internet, but an older man with glasses came, I guess he was some kind of supervisor of to the hotel (he didn't introduce himself and didn't know English) who, in a very arrogant and firm tone, showed us an adjoining room without windows to the outside (it had a canteen, not a restaurant, which doesn't appear in the pictures) and where by the way, he ate all the meals, breakfast and dinner, during our entire stay there with the whole group of Romanians, of course, except he was the guide for the group who, by the way, could eat where he wanted as he was staying in the same hotel with us and who didn't solve either a request from us related to the hotel saying that it is our job to solve it, an answer that I have never met before anywhere I have been on holidays, and I have been away for the last 25 years, year after year. Practically the respective the terrace and another one on the 2nd floor, which had very beautiful views, were intended for weddings and christenings, 2 such events took place during the week we were staying at this hotel. I ask, is the hotel for tourists or is it an EVENT ROOM? I mention that the gentleman, the so-called supervisor of the hotel, during our entire stay there, was very arrogant with us, on the other hand, the staff at the reception, from serving the table, were very kind and nice. The air conditioning was not told to him that it was against cost (at a 4-star hotel) as well as the outdoor pool (on the website it says that it is free and it seems to me that it would be normal at a 4-star hotel). In conclusion, different from what is presented on the website of the hotel and the reality there is very large and in no case does it offer you the comfort and satisfaction of a 4-star hotel for which I paid the 7-night package.

At the beginning, the name of this hotel was La Canonica. Recently, his name ias San Lorenzo because it is located on San Lorenzo street. I was here in September with I was here with the tour operator Christian Tour. The hotel is a beautiful property, located on a hill with a panoramic view of the sea and Vesuvius, but very far from the train station and port. By bus one way, about 45'. The swimming pool and terrace are beautiful, with a fantastic view, but in the day when there was a wedding, I did not have access to this terrace. Our room was spacious, clean, good beds, quality linen, but it did not have a big wardrobe with shelfs for clothes, it had no balcony and had a view of the most ugly part of the hotel, towards some tubes and in the morning, when I opened the window, not fresh air came in, but the smell of food from the kitchen came in. The hotel was not occupied to his capacity, there were also free rooms with a view of the sea/Vesuvius, but because we were coming through Christian Tour, we did not receive them. The staff, in general, kind (especially the one at the reception, they helped me with useful information), except for one man with glasses, the supervisor, who was not at all friendly and who forbade us to eat in the dining room with a view of the sea and Vesuvius. We were eating in a room with the windows towards the beautiful dining room , covered with curtains, so that we could not see anything, like in my pictures posted here. The hotel is a bit isolated. It is necessary to go by bus from the hotel to Castellammare (where there are the port, the station and beach) and reverse, and this is an inconvenience ( to much hours on the way, aprox.90 minutes/day). The bus rarely runs, and in weekend, Sundays is a tragedy. It would be ideal for the hotel to have a shuttle bus. I appreciate as to be a discrimination the fact that not all tourists have access to the dining room with the amazing view of the sea and Vesuvius. We, those who came through the Christian Tour, were forbidden. When I was there, there were aprox. 3 foreign tourists who stayed only aprox.2 days at this hotel, and I saw them eating in that dining room, then, the dining room was unoccupied by anyone. I regret that, at the breakfast, we could not enjoy the wonderful view from the dining room, as it is posted in the pictures displayed on the hotel website. The food was the same throughout the stay (8 days). Specifically, breakfast buffet, poor (only: boiled eggs, one sort ham and one sort cheese, only tomatoes, pastry, bread, yogurt and flakes, juice machine, coffee machine, tea), and for dinner, fix menu, two courses of food, one of which, daily, pasta and dessert (cake or a plate with a slice of 3 different fruits ). Salads and fruits were missing. In the room, there was a mug for boil, I found about 6 tea bags (for 2 people). There was no coffee. Therefore, I appreciate that there are no facilities for preparing coffee in the room. The mini bar is extremely

The lack of a wardrobe (with shelfs) suitable for clothes. Defects in the water drainage system in the bathroom, both when using the shower and the bidet. A lot of water

It's an elegant and modern hotel with an amazing view. The pool and the upper terraces are gorgeous. We had a standard room (it had no balcony, but the majority of the rooms have one), which was clean and spacious, with a nice bathroom and a very comfortable bed. My only observation is about the refrigerators, which are very stylish but pretty useless because they are so small you can't put in even a 1l bottle (and out of the 7 days we stayed, it was broken during the last 4). The staff is welcoming and capable, especially Stephanie and Gaetano, in the restaurant. Unfortunately, one must be prepared that the geography of the area is making it hard to get around. Without a car, there is only one way to get down to the coast: by bus, which has an incoherent timetable and very hard-to-follow stops.

We ended up staying at Hotel San Lorenzo (La Canonica) by accident as we were double booked by another venue in Sorrento and found out shortly before we travelled from Ireland. It turned out to be a great situation for us- we have had a wonderful holiday here. Before we arrived communication from staff was excellent via WhatsApp. We had already read reviews and knew the hotel was isolated, but the staff helped us by sorting our taxi transfers to/from the airport and our day trips in the weeks before we arrived. Every request we made was handled with friendship and efficiency. We were advised we could rent a car, but after seeing the way people drive here, it was a no for us! Yes, this is an event venue, but we were able to use the pool/terrace from 9-5pm on an event day and 9-7pm on the other days, so we did not find any problem with this. We enjoyed seeing the Italian weddings, and the fireworks and celebrations made this feel like a happy venue. We have teenagers and a seven year old. The teenagers were happy to sunbathe and our seven year old enjoyed the pool, but there is not a lot for young children (which is fine as this venue is not really designed for kids) You can take a short walk to the town below and the cafés have football tables and games machines. Locals don’t speak English but they are super friendly and the shop owners were very nice to us when we would walk down for ice cream. There is a snack bar at the pool, the menu is the same daily, but we found this fine and the meals were generally delicious (beautiful fresh Italian food). The pool attendant at the snack bar was very helpful and knew some English which made ordering food and drinks easy for us. We ate at the main restaurant twice during our stay. We found the food to be really tasty and desserts were also delicious. Breakfast was a selection of Italian breads and cakes, with the standard cereals/boiled eggs/ cheese etc… We loved this. All-in-all this holiday was not what we originally intended to have (a villa in central Sorrento was what we originally booked) but what we got in Lettere was a genuine Italian experience. A small town full of friendly and helpful Italians, beautiful tourist-free streets. Inexpensive food and drink (compared to Ireland and UK prices anyway!) One last point is that the view from this hotel has to be one of the best in the country. It is worth staying here for that alone.

As others say, their bread and butter is weddings and events so they struggle sometimes to accommodate overnight guests. We were there for a family wedding and stayed the week. It is reminiscent of the British comedy Fawlty Towers at times. Sometimes the restaurant is closed to guests because they’re too busy with the events. No on-site laundry or exercise room. No recycling. However the staff are very nice especially Vincenzo and the front desk. The foot is very good although the menu is the same for lunch and dinner all week. They try their hardest and their attitude combined with the amazing view overcome the pitfalls. Not much to do locally so be prepared to go away for the day e.g. Pompeii etc.
