Crowne Plaza Royal Victoria Sheffield

Sheffield|2.67km from English Institute of Sport Sheffield
I would highly recommend the Crowne Plaza Victoria for any conference or large-scale event; the team here, in particular Emily Evans, were friendly, outgoing and went above and beyond to ensure that our conference ran smoothly. Before arriving at the hotel, the team was in constant contact with our team to ensure that our delegates rooms were booked, our menu selection for our formal dinner was confirmed and that dietary requirements would be met. Furthermore, after highlighting that some of our delegates would be observing Ramadan, the team not only provided packed breakfasts for these delegates so that they could continue to take part in suhoor, signage was created to highlight where the prayer room would be over the course of our stay. As the Crowne Plaza Victoria is a hotel there will be other guests who have booked their rooms months in advance, once the team realised that we would be six rooms short, the hotel across the road was contacted to enquire whether they had any availability to accommodate our overflow. Once confirmed that they did, all we had to do was inform the team who would be staying at this hotel and their dietary requirements; the fact that the Crowne Plaza was so proactive in providing a solution to a problem we were not aware of was so greatly appreciated and highlighted to us that this was a venue/ team which wanted to ensure that we and our delegates had the best time with them before we had even arrived! In addition to this, the team’s dedication to ensuring that our conference ran smoothly was further highlighted by Emily physically moving the tables all by herself when we realised that the position of certain tables obstructed the view of the presentation. All requests such as; additional labelling for food, temperature control of the main room were completed swiftly, even by hotel staff whom were not directly assigned to looking after us. All the food provided was amazing, whether it was lunch, snacks or the food served at dinner, you could tell that an incredible amount of detail was given. I could not recommend this hotel and team enough!

Breakfast is average, there is not much room for choice, average taste, you can eat. The hotel is well located in the heart of the city, with three supermarkets next to it. Very close to the train station.

Very friendly staff on reception and my room was ready on arrival. The room was very clean and spotless, and for a budget hotel, it provided me with everything that I needed for an overnight stay. On this occasion I just stayed on a room only basis, however have had breakfast here on a previous occasion and it was a delicious buffet style continental breakfast.

Spent a night here as an add-on for an event at city hall. I've visited the spa & health club previously & thought I'd make an afternoon of it before the event as I work locally. Check in is Usually 3pm however, after arriving at 1:20pm and politely asking if I was able to check in now I was very kindly allowed access to the room by the friendly, helpful Wiktoria on reception. This allowed me to chill out a bit after an early start & get changed to use the pool & saunas as I waited for my friend to arrive. Room had a nice view of the old town hall, twin beds, a mini fridge for milk & wine and rather helpfully, a separate bath and shower which is rare these days. Fairly clean however, when I moved one of the beds there was a thick layer of dust beneath it. Also the carpets & furniture are looking very tired now. It could certainly do with a freshen up. Also, no hand soap by the sink however, there was body lotion. The windows do not open but there is temperature control. Personally I found this rather noisy and had to switch it off to sleep. Spa area is okay but again, looking rather tired with old carpets and lots of dark wood. It's rather maze-like layout isn't be best either. Lockers are now available poolside for guests with a self locking system. Pool was clean enough with lots of loungers and chairs to relax. Sauna, ice room and steam rooms are for some reason unlit which I find interesting.... It's a mainly wet area and chances of slipping are highly likely so....maybe a little light? Generally clean though and not too busy being midweek. Lifts were out of service when we returned to the room late that evening, so we begrudgingly climbed the stairs to bed and hoped that they'd be fixed in the morning when we left with our heavy bags. Unfortunately they were not, and so a trudge against down the stairs was required. Not the best. Overall a nice central location but at £96 midweek (booked in advance via booking.com on a rewards rate) I think it's a bit steep for a substandard room and mediocre health club. Would I stay again? Yes, but for half the price.

Honestly was skeptical at 1st staying in a 'pub' with a child but it was a last minute booking in a great location.... I shouldn't have been! Clean, quiet,so welcoming, amazing staff love the fact you can wattsapp orders to the bar and have it brought up (yes I am aware of other hotels doing room service but again was skeptical) We had a triple room which had access to Netflix, was warm clean, tidy with a modern bathroom in. Couldn't hear any noise. Only thing I would say is that if you are disabled and struggle with stairs let them know. We got put on the 3rd floor but that was on me not letting them know. This hotel is all about location and if your going to tje ice rink for events as we where or concerts at utilitia or even want a weekend shopping meadowhall! We will be back soon no doubt.

There wasn't much need for service with a one night stay but, it looked as though if needed, it was there. Location was OK if the canal side bars were accessible through the rear of the lobby but it was locked so had to turn a 2min walk into a 10min walk but not the end of the world. There were hairs in the bath and some rubbish in the corner of the room but other than that, all was fine. Loved they had an iron and ironing board but the cover was a little grotty. Overall, I'd stay again.
