Hotel Centar
4.2/513 Reviews
Very much enjoyed my (one night) stay in Hotel Centar. Everything about it was good. I arrived by bus to Skopje bus station and had a 10 minute walk to the hotel (slightly tricky, I may add, as the hotel is slightly off-centre and not terribly well signposted - but Google Maps to the rescue!) The hotel was very pleasant, staff extremely pleasant and helpful and the room quality was very good. Breakfast was included in the price and had lots of stuff on offer (have to confess I am not a breakfast person). There appears to be a swimming pool in the small complex where the hotel is located, and this is free to guests. Can't confirm as I didn't take advantage of thus. My memories of this hotel are good
Holiday Inn Skopje

This hotel was priced higher that some others nearby. I chose this hotel because it was closest to the bus station yet Central. The reviews were not promising describing it as pretty old. I'd agree about the outside of the building but the inside felt fairly new. I'm a platinum member and this was well recognized. They gave me a room upgrade to their senior suite and also free breakfast which normally isn't provided to platinum members. The suite was very nice. A large living room plus separate bedroom and bathroom. For some reason the bathroom had two showers, a stall version and a bathtub version. Water pressure was good. They also provided me a plate with some smart desserts. I had a small view of the river area. The room was comfortable with a couch and table plus a desk. TV has smart features. Internet was fast. Breakfast was great with a wide variety of options. Unfortunately my first night had very low occupancy in the hotel so breakfast was by order only. This made it a little confusing since there was no list of all the items to choose from. Although I still got plenty to eat I thought that a lot of food was wasted since the portion sizes that I got were quite large and I also got a few extra items I didn't mean to order. The next day had a normal buffet setup. I don't know what the normal rooms are like but I'd 100% come back if I get upgraded to a suite again. With the upgrade, it's probably one of the top HI stays I've ever had.
Astera Apart Hotel

The hotel calls this an apartment which is a very generous description — it was more of a hotel room with a kitchenette in it. The air conditioner worked fine, and the fridge was nice to have. Or major issue was that the room stank of smoke, despite there being a no smoking sign. The sheets were not very comfortable, either. The staff were very friendly and helpful, however.
Aloha Luxury Apartments

We had a great stay at Aloha Apartments in late February going into March. We had a choice of rooms when we got there, so chose a bigger one on the ground floor by the pool, which was bright, and a nice view. Obviously as it was the end of winter we didn't use the pool or sit in the garden, but for sure in better weather it must be a pleasant place to relax in. The room was very clean and comfortable, with plenty of room. The shower room was great, and there was always hot water, and clean towels whenever we needed from the hallway area. There is the entrance to a well in the room, working, I assume. The top part of it has been made into a coffee table. It's probably the most unusual feature of any apartment we've ever stayed in. Elora and George, who run the apartments, were always very welcoming and helpful with organising very good excursions and supplying a decent local taxi service. The apartments are maybe a mile or so from the city centre along the Vardar river, in an old part of the city. It's easy in the Balkans to mistake old or traditional areas as run down, but it's not, and consequently you have to see past the immediate view to its unspectacular charm: you are staying in a historic area which is more authentically Skopje than the city centre, with all its statues and grand buildings. The apartments are well situated to walk into town, though we usually got a taxi back, a ten-minute trip which costs 100-200 denar - very cheap. I liked the local dogs in the neighbourhood, who came to investigate us each time we came out of the gate, keeping a friendly distance and always strangely quiet. We really enjoyed our stay at Aloha, and highly recommend it, winter or summer.
Leonardo Hotel
4.3/58 Reviews
The hotel is in a central location, the staff is very friendly and helpful; we especially want to mention Mohamed at the reception who helped us rebook the room. Breakfast offers a lot of variety and is lovingly prepared. The mattresses are very comfortable and the bathroom had a wonderful rain showerhead. Tea and coffee makers are in the room. My one disappointment was that the website shows a sofa in a standard bouquet classic room which was not the case. We needed to upgrade to a junior suite but received a discount on the new room. The suite was very large and just like in the picture. They even provided a dog bed and 2 bowls. Everything was wonderful and we would stay at Leonardo again.
Hotel Panoramika Design & Spa
4.6/537 Reviews
We had a fantastic stay at the Panoramika Design and Spa Hotel. The staff at the reception could not have been nicer or more helpful. Whatever we needed (a taxi, directions, questions answered, etc. ) they were there to help. When we checked in, we were upgraded to a suite which was among the best hotel rooms we have ever stayed in anywhere. It was spacious, beautiful, and clean, with a gorgeous bathroom to match. We had one day of rain and it was a delight to hang out in that room! The view of the city from our room was also spectacular. Furthermore, we really enjoyed the Sky Bar for both drinks and meals. The views were gorgeous and the food was very good. If I had to be critical, I would say that I wish the breakfast had a little more to offer, particularly fresh fruit. The only fruit I saw were oranges, apples, and bananas, but something like strawberries would have been great in cereal. I do understand, though, that breakfast for the Macedonians is usually just burek, so maybe that was why they had what they did. In any event, we would highly recommend this awesome hotel!
