What a wonderful country house. Setting, service and ambience. Set for great walks and warm fires. The food in the restaurant was lovely and overall a great experience. The only elements that prevented me giving this a 5. The mattress. Change it now. It was like a water bed and spoilt the beautiful sleigh bed. The roll top bath and shower is an accident waiting to happen…. It wobbles and no handle to help getting in or out of the shower element.

This hotel is a gem. Lovely peaceful location and set in well kept grounds. Very friendly staff and Manager. We stayed in room Mount Clare. This room overlooked the front with a lovely view. The bed was large and very comfortable. We stayed for evening meal and although the choice is limited the food was very good. The breakfast was excellent. The town of Malton is around a 10 min drive and there is a local pub around 5 mins walk.

Lovely room with good amenities. The manager called in some favours to find us a taxi at short notice. Staff were relaxed but attentive and dinner in the restaurant was excellent. Very relaxing stay, perfect for visiting the nearby vineyard

We have just returned home after spending the weekend at Burythorpe House for our daughter’s wedding. All I can say is - everything was perfect and better than we could have imagined. We filled all the rooms for both nights so it felt like an extended family gathering. All staff were amazing. However, Alison the manager, who has been so supportive of us all over the period of planning this big event to checking everything was in place for every part of the event, we cannot thank you enough. Matt, the chef, produced food all weekend that everyone who came said was the best wedding food they had ever tasted. For such a special occasion, the marriage of your daughter, we could could not have asked for more. They made this memory even more special.

Staff were accommodating, however you did have to pop in to their office space or kitchen to find them. The front door required a fair pull as it sticks. On the drive to it , it first appeared closed...no signage to park or to show reception. We had the downstairs room directly off a dining area. The bed was two singles pushed together . The mattresses were very firm and not very comfortable. This room would be better left as a twin with different mattresses. The young lady who served our evening meal was very pleasant. The meals were quite good .

We were based in Bridlington recently and decided to go back after a number of years and check out one of our favourite hotels, Burythorpe House, which is about a forty-five minute drive away. On arrival the car park was almost empty and when we went to reception the door was locked. Attracting attention took a minute or so and when we went in we found that lunch was pre-bookings only...and today there were none! February in a very wet Yorkshire is not the best time to visit but once inside we were royally treated by Chef Matt and front of house Jennifer. The downstairs of the main house has lost its billiard/snooker room to additional public seating; the swimming pool is now a function room and the bedrooms have all been given makeovers. The lounge and dining rooms have remained largely as we remember them but without the Austin family cats! Despite there being no lunch service that day, Matt very kindly produced some excellent sandwiches for us followed by a couple of delicious puddings - a frangipane tart and stunning lemon posset. With a couple of drinks along the way what had begun inauspiciously ended with us feeling that familiar Burythorpe ambiance and relaxed comfort that we knew so well. There's an old saying about never going back as you're often disappointed. Well Burythorpe House is clearly an exception and well worth a visit.

Visited Burythorpe House on a weekend break. A wonderful welcoming Country House set in North Yorkshire. The accommodation was spotlessly clean. and the hotel has a warm and comfortable feel in all areas. The staff were excellent with a special mention for Jill who looked after us so well on arrival and throughout Dinner. The Manager Alison is passionate on good customer service and this shines through in every department The standard of cuisine both for Dinner and breakfast could not be faulted with a good selection of options available.Good range of drinks at sensible prices however no draught ales available but a good section of bottled beers etc All in all a very pleasant experience and we will certainly return

I cannot put enough emphasis on how fantastic the whole experience at Burythorpe House has been for me and my (now) wife! The wedding there was incredible! The balance of luxury, homeliness, fun and love was just perfect! Alison and the whole team made us feel so special and they made the planning and the day so personal and unique! Seriously! Anyone looking for a wedding or event venue needs to come to burythorpe House!!

We have just returned from a wonderful stay at Burythorpe House, we received a very warm welcome from the manager after a long day exploring Malton and Flamingo Land (25mins away). Our room was Kirkham which was on the top floor and had a wonderful view and spacious. We enjoyed some drinks in the evening which was very chilled and was advised of all the local attractions for our following day. Breakfast was delicious and staff very friendly and accommodating once again. We will definitely be returning and recommending to our family & friends.
