"My 3rd stay at this hotel since 2017 and it just gets better. Customer service was excellent throughout, breakfast quality had improved, the restaurant area is far more modern and the bar area in the garden fits very well. The pool area is great for both adults and kids. Can highly recommend paying the extra for superior rooms. Much more spacious than a standard room, excellent view of the sea. This hotel in the view of a time served travel agent meets the requirement of a 4 star hotel despite being a 3 star The hotel is cleaned to a high standard. I saw 3 cleaners working on each room. The excursions the hotel can plan are quite varied and interesting including culinary tours, a trip to the volcanic island of stromboli and also use to an area of a beach that I would describe as being one of the best on mainland Italy. The hotel can also arrange transfers to and from Lamezia and Reggio Calabria airport, as well as the local train station if you opt for not taking a car. Enjoy your stay at La Bussola hotel, you will not be disappointed!"

"The reception staff were welcoming, helpful and friendly. The room was comfortable and spacious. The setting is very well situated. The beach is nice. The pool area is beautiful, with flowers around and a view of the sea. The experience was sadly ruined by the playing of loud music from early afternoon to evening from a booming speaker, drowning out what would have been beautiful sounds of the sea and nature. The food was pleasant though not outstanding, and patchy in quality. We did not always receive what we ordered. A waiter refused to give my elderly mother butter: “I know it is the English way but this is Italy”. As an anglo Italian family, this does not please me. I enjoyed my stay, but there were sufficient issues to prevent a return."

"Francesco is amazing, and is helpful, warm, and go the extra miles to help. I have stayed in many B&B and many are friendly and helpful. What made Francesco special is he is personal, responsive, go the extra mile to help me. I can see and feel from my interactions with him and his interections with other hotel guests were that he cares for all his guests and their wellbeing. One example was he offered to send me to the train station as it was raining at no cost, and provided suggested places to visit and eat and also help with train travel. The hotel location is very good too. 7 mins walk from city centre where all F&B and shops and tourist attractions are located yet away from the crowd. Rooms are spacious and clean with daily house keeping. I am impressed and would recommend this place."

"Beautiful family run hotel, we went at a very quiet time of year but were still treated so well by our hosts, lovely breakfast, no rush to eat and go. Quality historic and artistic rooms I loved it, if you want rustic Italian feels this is the place for you, If you want white washed rooms, bathroom then this is not the place for you. I loved it, so laid back and nothing was too much trouble. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Thanks for a wonderful stay, our first time in Tropea."

"The problems started as soon as we arrived. my boyfriend was still in the middle of the courtyard with the car and I went down to ask for parking information at the reception, but at the reception they had already made me pay the bill for the stay, with the car not yet parked and the luggage not yet unloaded . Then finally they showed us where to park and we went to our room. I would say the room was too small for two people. Balcony without mosquito net, overlooking the swimming pool (with little privacy) therefore a million mosquitoes. So in the evening we were forced to close everything and sleep with an air conditioner on but unfortunately it was old and noisy. The bathroom was not adequate, the shower had no door/curtain/any form of closure so taking a shower meant enlarging half the bathroom. Restaurant with insufficient room service, unprofessional staff and little choice on the menu. For breakfast they made us sit on tables with stain covers still dirty from the previous evening. And also little choice in the breakfast buffet. Finally, the beach bar was not adequate for the number of umbrellas present. In general, all types of service are insufficient. "

"Beautiful location idyllic .we stayed for 3 nights and had a wonderful relaxing time . Perfect chill out place and saw some amazing sunsets . Staff are friendly and helpful . Great swimming pool and accompanying music .maybe more parasols /shade around the pool would be good but plenty of sun beds and parasols to relax near the edge of the sea and overlooking the sea from the hotel Beach is beautiful .large stones you need to clamber over to get in but there are coloured sandbags to guide you and it’s worth the effort !! Small bar and restaurant bit pricey but what you expect from a hotel restaurant I guess .and in resorts generally .food is good Breakfast is ok could be better for the price although you can order additional items such as eggs omelettes. Pancakes s at extra cost In the town .Itself 5 minutes walk there is a supermarket and a number of places to eat , may be with booking at busy times . Club ipomea is great place to relax with the family .I hope to definitely return one day ."
