We have just returned from our third stay with Jan and Mark at Number 58, Tavistock. We had our usual wonderfully warm welcome from the hosts who are such lovely people. Number 58 is a lovely, warm, friendly place to stay and we feel so at home there. The breakfasts are amazing, the rooms are delightful and there are always the extra touches like a bottle of wine in the fridge in your room and a packet of biscuits, along with a huge range of teas and coffees. We look forward to returning to sample this excellent hospitality again as we can't imagine finding anywhere nicer to stay when we next return to Devon. Diana & Roger

Visited this really small local bar in Hartlepool and never had such a good cheeseboard in last 20 years. Bar staff are amazing so friendly and so genuine and nice. Amazing selection of ales a, gins and whiskeys

We have recently returned from a 5 night stay at 'Number 5ifty 8ight', with the most gracious of hosts you could wish to meet. We arrived in the rain but were warmly greeted by Jan who showed us our beautiful room upstairs, it was amazing with all modern conveniences and so much space, and the bathroom had an incredible walk in shower, it was all perfectly prepared and so spotlessly clean. The room also had a lovely view out front to the bowling green and the hills beyond. We met Mark the following morning at breakfast where we savoured our cooked breakfasts every morning, it really set us up for the day, lunch certainly not required! Number 58 is barely a 10 minute walk into the centre of Tavistock, so all amenities are close to hand with high quality restaurants, cafes etc, and some independent shops. Access to Dartmoor is very easy, either a 10 minute drive from Tavistock, or 30 mins or so walk from town. Our 5 night stay was over before we could look around but we had a lovely time in the company of Jan and Mark. We would love to return as we barely touched the surface really of what Dartmoor has to offer. We are avid walkers and we were so impressed with our first visit to Tavistock and Dartmoor. Jan and Mark looked after us so well in their stunning property, that we would love to return one day, but until then, we take fond memories of a brilliant stay! Thank you so much!

When we arrived at the hotel we were warmly welcomed by Jan and Mark. Check in was easy, and they offered to carry our bags upstairs. The room was spotless and beautifully decorated. The room had large windows, so was bright and airy, with blackout curtains. Jan and Mark had written us an anniversary card which was very nice of them! The shower room had the most amazing rainfall shower, and complimentary Molton Brown toiletries. The room was spacious, and the bed was incredibly comfortable! In the mornings there was a large choice of breakfast options with personalised menus with our names printed on them. As there are only 3 rooms in the hotel there is great service and the breakfasts are very generously portioned! We can't wait to come and stay again! Joe & Alex

Breakfast abs amazing Stayed there twice both times exceptional. So relaxing. Stayed in the suite and a room but both are done to a very high standard. Only problem I found was parking but there is parking on street

Jan and Mark are by far the best hosts we have ever experienced. From a warm welcome to a friendly goodbye, they were always available on hand if needed but weren't intrusive in anyway like we have experienced in different b and bs before. We stayed two nights in the top floor suite which is beautifully furnished and designed with luxury. The views are great and the location is perfectly positioned for easy access into Town. The breakfasts are fantastic and the menu is well varied. They also had lovely touches such as personal breakfast menus and even gave us a lovely anniversary card. We have stayed in a few different air b and bs and hotels in Tavistock but number 58 has by far been our most favourite stay. We first visited Jan & Mark’s townhouse last November and loved it so much, this year we made a second 5 night booking and took one of our parents with us this time. It is not very often when you revisit an accommodation that you enjoy it as much as the first time, but if anything we enjoyed it more. Jan & Mark are so friendly and Jan provides an exceptional gourmet breakfast. The house is beautiful as are the rooms. It is spotless and Jan & Mark have made an excellent job of restyling this 3 storey townhouse into a top quality bed & breakfast. The Location is also excellent and Tavistock is a very agreeable town! Thoroughly recommended!

Jan and Mark are just wonderful; they are the best hosts you can wish for. They are always cheery, in for a laugh or for a more serious chat, and they really outdo themselves to make your stay as pleasant as can be. The B&B itself is wonderful, with a lot of attention to detail. We stayed in the top floor suite, which has ample space, a separate seating area and a luxurious bathroom with a giant walk-in shower. It breathes cosiness in every way. And as a welcome, Jan and Mark had provided some nice little treats. One of the daily highlights is of course the breakfast! It has lots of choices, and I can say we tried many of them, and they were all marvelous. Its location is also ideal to explore Devon and Dartmoor, with many lovely places to visit within one hour’s drive (and most are even much closer). Do ask for Jan and Marks’s recommendations for places to eat, as those are top notch as well. Would love to return here during another Devon visit. Koen & Nathalie

This B&B is lovely. It is beautifully furnished, very comfortable and exceptionally clean. The breakfasts are delicious with a good level of choice. Jan and Mark couldn't be more helpful and welcoming. A great place to stay.
