This was our first stay at the Prince Arthur Hotel. The neighbourhood looks a little sketchy but we had no problems and they do have a Security Guard stationed in the front lobby. I wouldn't recommend walking around outside by yourself after dark. The front desk staff were very nice. Our room was clean, albeit a little old and dated. There was some traffic noise due to the air conditioner in the window which looks out to a busy street but it wasn't awful. We had a lovely view of the Waterfront. There is an EXCELLENT Thai Restaurant just steps away from the Hotel. 'Thai Kitchen'. Go! The Hotel is in a nice location and you can go for a nice walk in the park across the street.

The hotel has an old-world charm including the older tape reel elevator telling you what floor it is on. It even has a sign that says it works, just slow. The rooms are retro fit to have electricity and plug-ins, but you can tell this place was around even before then. The bed was comfortable, the view towards the water was perfect for sunrise/sunset views and the shower was perfect.

This hotel was very quiet. It had comfortable beds and very large rooms. Everything was clean. The hotel seems tired and needs a huge investment to bring it up to the next level. As it is - it’s a one/ two night kind of place. If you are going to be out all day then it will be great. It was nice to be near the water instead of straying by the highway in a motel with no view. If you are looking for a corporate hotel (best western etc) then this is not for you. Otherwise it’s fine.

The room was nice, clean enough, but the noise level from the trains and the traffic made it impossible to sleep. Yes, the view from the 5th floor on the lake side is beautiful, but we had not realized that the trains ride all night and break in front of the hotel. So, all night you are hearing metal against metal breaking train wheels. So, if it is a good night sleep that you want, either ask for the STREET side or go elsewhere.

Stayed here because literally every other hotel was full.....never again. Would give it a minus rating if I could. What a dump, would have had a nicer stay if I was in a tent on the street. Poor maintenance, paper thin walls, worn out just about everything and having to worry about running the gauntlet of street beggars. Garbage and food strewn through the hall. Being continually kept up by drunks in the hallway at 2 am

What a horrible experience. AVOID! This was the only hotel I could find in TB. The room was worn and run down. The AC was terrible and I could not open the window. Unfortunately the area around there has changed and is very sketchy. I did not feel safe. Not the hotels fault. I was up at 4:30 and bolted.

We stayed here two years ago with our dogs and had a great time. It is an older hotel and could use some updates but the water view rooms are great views of the sleeping giant. We stayed again July 2023 and we were very disappointed. When we walked in our room there was a very strong odour of smoke, we had a “smoke free” room. Our bathroom door didn’t shut properly and there was a sticky substance on the floor. Outside the hotel has gotten worse and is no longer safe and welcoming. You have ******* walking around the hotel parking lot asking guests for money and cigarettes. Night time is very sketchy and scary. I would definitely no longer recommend this hotel, especially for families. I will never go back.

I've stayed at the Prince Arthur several time sin the past when visiting family in Thunder Bay. It used to be very nice. It is still okay, but all the people hanging around outside the doors at all hours makes it a sketchy choice now. The employees were very nice and helpfully and the location is great. The pool area looks great, as usual, but we didn't have time to use it this trip. We spent a lot of time being worried about our car. We encountered a very inebriated woman driving a car erratically in the lot, banging into other cars. Well... it was Canada Day. Not sure if we would stay here again.

No air conditioning in room. It was almost 80 degrees in the room when we checked in at 8 pm. Restaurant closed at 8 pm during the week. Very minimal soap and towels in bathroom. Not up to the ratings
