Hotels near Rumassala Sanctuary in Unawatuna

A beautiful villa, the location is super, next to the main street, but from the sounds only nature ... a lot of living creatures: monkeys, peacocks, parrots, monitor lizards in the river, once saw a snake on the territory and a lot of chipmunks. Cleaning every two days, cleaned well, even too much (after moving to another hotel, they found that some things were missing - clothes), perhaps the hostess does not know and the cleaners steal, be careful!

This place took me by surprise. Leaving the loud main road, you wind up briefly to a perfectly serene, quiet retreat, staffed by some of the most kind and genuinely invested human beings I’ve ever met. Our rooms were great, wifi worked without a problem, and there was never any power outage. The kitchen is what really got me, though. I normally don’t eat much at hotels, seeking more local experiences outside. But during my three days in Unawatuna I did not once eat anywhere other than Thambapanni. The food here is nothing short of divine. Margarita pizza better than I’ve had anywhere, sautéed Tuna that redefined how fish could be prepared for me, hell even the base salad was masterfully seasoned and actually full of flavor. I actually got to know the chef, Lionel, just to thank him for his effort and the clear attentiveness and knowledge he brings to his craft. The waitstaff was also very helpful. Deshan in particular was so helpful, ever attentive without being obtrusive. At one point he even offered to bike into town to get some antihistamines for my wife, who was suffering an allergic reaction at the time. And the owner, Alex, even took me and my wife on a tour of his farm! This was the other secret to why their food is so amazing—aside from Lionel’s experience and professionalism, they locally source their ingredients! Alex showed us where they grow cinnamon, coconuts, bananas, and the chickens, so full and contented. Everything about this place was clearly the product of dedication and love, from the field to your plate. When we had to leave, my wife and I actually felt sad to go. And the receptionist at the front desk, having noticed my wife photographing flowers, actually made her an adorable little flower keychain from folded ribbons. Delightful location, unbelievably good food, kind and genuinely invested staff, 5/5 would do it again.

Fabulous stay in this gorgeous hotel right on the beach. All of the staff without exception were top rate! They couldn’t have been more attentive, so kind friendly and helpful, always with a smile too. We had room 1, practically right on the beach. The room had everything you need, air con, fan, safe, hair dryer, good shower and very comfy bed. The restaurant was excellent with lots of tourists from other hotels coming to eat, always a good sign. I had the most delicious tuna which I like cooked rare and it came just as I wanted. Sadly we only had one night here but we would definitely come back.

We can not say enough good things about our stay at this beautiful boutique hotel. The entire staff was welcoming and attentive to details. We arrived at 3:00am and the hotel had prepared some fruit and sandwiches for our arrival. My wife is celiac and the staff did an amazing job ensuring there were food options available for her. They even prepared traditional Sri Lankan food for us to try. The beach club gets very busy during the day but we still felt like the only guests there. This place has a great island vibe with music and different entertainment daily. We will definitely be returning before the end of our trip.

Overall, it was an enjoyable stay although in some respects it was inferior to other hotels I stayed in on the holiday. The pools were great and so was the view from the room. The room itself was alright - quite basic but sufficient. We did have problems with a leak in the ceiling which was promptly addressed by staff but still a little annoying. In general the staff were lovely: in particular Chamindu in the restaurant, a security guard who called me and my partner over to show us turtles on the beach (sorry, can't remember his name) and the guy working the sunloungers at the lower pool. The weakest part was probably the food. It wasn't bad exactly, it was just worse than the food in all the other hotels I stayed in.

The environment is first-class, it is a good place for a vacation, and the staff are very friendly and enthusiastic! We used the taxi app Pick Me to take a taxi in Galle, and then took the bus to Mirissa. In fact, as long as it is not the rush hour, the conditions of their buses are passable. Much cleaner than India, maybe there will be surprises

I arrived at the hotel very early in the afternoon, and I printed the order number (English version) of Ctrip, but it was still delayed for a long time. But we upgraded the room type: sea view room (room 206). The check-in experience was still great. Because the previous nights were reserved for special hotels, I chose Asia Leisure for the last night because it is a new hotel in 2018. It is indeed new and I was not disappointed. Meals: Two restaurants, we ordered food and spent 26,000 rupees, which is still very cost-effective. Breakfast is a cafeteria, and children need to make up the difference. Location: 15 minutes walk from Galle Fort, it is very convenient to go there by tutu for 300-400 rupees. Supporting facilities: The sight of the outdoor swimming pool is great, you can see the sea view and the towering ancient city, because it is located in the air outlet, it is only open until 8 o'clock every night. The types of equipment in the gym on the G floor are average.

We had an excellent stay at Ceylon Olive for three nights in August 2023. The warm welcome you feel continues throughout your stay as the staff are amazing that they take care of you with every little help. We were treated like a part of the family from the arrival and the owner Kumudu invited us to have meals together with his family, which was a great experience. The food was amazing with authentic Sri Lankan cuisine. We felt that the hotel was a hidden gem in Galle, with five-minute Tuk Tuk drive away from Unesco world Heritage site of Dutch Fort and stunning Unawatuna beach. Ceylon olive was one of the most beautiful hotels I have stayed at. The pool, outdoor shower, stunning rooms, and peaceful environment were among the best. It's hard to know where to start with this review. From the moment we booked the general manager sent me a personalised message. We arrived greeted by a refreshing cold towel and a tour of this beautiful hotel. We booked the grand suite for 8 nights and 9n entering it exceeded my expectations. The room is huge tastefully decorated spotlessly clean. The bathroom is beautiful and there is even a small kitchen area. The veranda overlooking the pool was a gret place to have our morning coffee. The grounds make you feel like you are in a tropical rain forest and the pool and separate jacuzzi are lovely. Breakfast was a delight and they adapted every morning to our tastes. All of the staff are amazing and friendly. And the general manager is so lovely greeting us personally every morning asking about our stay and if there is anything they can do for us. All the staff were a credit to this beautiful place. Ps the private beach is stunning feels like your on a tropical island. I wish our stay was not ending tomorrow. Would not hesitate to come back.
