Weihai Dongshan Hotel

Based on reviews, I originally booked the Yingbin Building, but when I arrived, the renovation smell was overwhelming! I rebooked the Guibin Building, which didn't have the renovation smell, but the room was a bit noisy facing the street. Breakfast was very poor, crowded and chaotic, with only the mackerel wontons being good. There's no need to stay here if you're not renting a car.

The connecting room was great for families with two kids, but on the first night, we found a rust-colored stain on the duvet cover. We contacted the front desk, and housekeeping immediately came to change it. Overall, the service was quite good, with staff being polite and proactive. They brought fresh fruit, yogurt, and bottled water to our room every day. The sea-view room had a balcony with an amazing view, and it was convenient for drying clothes. Breakfast options were a bit limited, and the taste was average. It cost 48 RMB per person, and children over 1.2 meters were charged the same. After eating there on the first day, we ordered takeout (Shen Gui Xian Bing) for the rest of our stay. Both the hotel's Chinese restaurant and Korean restaurant were good. We ate at the Chinese restaurant four times; it was not only convenient but also had great food and fresh ingredients.

This is a venerable state guesthouse with excellent service and solid facilities. We were upgraded to a spacious and comfortable room. The hotel's location is superb, making it very convenient to get to the beach and the park. The Korean restaurant within the hotel was surprisingly good.

The hotel is connected to a city park, with a coast where you can go clamming and find many small crabs. The Siyan Building is beautiful, offering stunning sunrises and sunsets. The breakfast spread is extensive, and there's also a unique saltwater swimming pool.

Stayed for two days, and everything was wonderful. The room was neat and clean, and fresh fruit and yogurt were delivered daily. The staff were all smiles, patient, and enthusiastic. The beach downstairs connects directly to Haiyuan Park, so you can go for a stroll by the sea anytime. This alone makes it incredibly worthwhile!

Let's be frank and review this from all angles: **Environment:** Backed by mountains and facing the sea, it's perfect for a relaxing getaway. **Location:** It's just a few hundred meters from Haiyuan Park, easily accessible on foot. It's about 3 kilometers from Weigao Plaza in the city center and 2 kilometers from Half Moon Bay, so taxis are convenient. **Service:** Upon arrival and departure, the staff were very helpful in carrying our luggage. The front desk, housekeeping, and restaurant services were all excellent, prompt, and enthusiastic. **Dining:** The breakfast selection was sufficient and matched the price. The Chinese restaurant has a great ambiance with a scenic balcony directly overlooking the sea, and prices are moderate. I can't really comment on the taste as everyone's preferences differ. **Cleanliness:** Very good. However, being quite sensitive to smells, I could still detect a slight hint of renovation odor in the hallway and room. This might vary from person to person. **Overall:** If I have the chance, I would definitely come back.

This hotel seems like an older, state-run establishment. The room facilities are pretty standard, but it's impeccably clean and tidy, which is a big plus. The staff are incredibly enthusiastic and go out of their way to meet guests' needs. They mentioned an indoor pool that's currently under renovation, and I'm quite looking forward to seeing it when it's done. The hotel's buffet breakfast is also fantastic – for under 100, you get a spread of seafood, crayfish, BBQ, and sashimi, which is excellent value for money, and it all tasted great. The location is perfect too; you just walk down the stairs and you're right on the beach. We only caught a small tide, which was a bit of a shame, but we still managed to catch lots of small fish and crabs, and everyone had a wonderful time. If I get the chance to visit Weihai again, I'll definitely be staying here.

After three years, I returned to Dongshan Hotel, and the biggest impression I got was: good service truly leaves a lasting memory. Coming back this time, everything felt as familiar and comfortable as ever. Manager Zhao from the front office had already communicated our room preferences, making the check-in process smooth and efficient. Ma Shuqin was incredibly attentive, from guiding us with our luggage to offering local travel tips; every detail was perfectly arranged. The front desk service was warm and thoughtful, making it feel less like staying at a hotel and more like returning to a familiar place. As a long-established state guesthouse, Dongshan Hotel's facilities are still solid, and the garden-style layout and seaside scenery are truly refreshing. But what really makes you want to stay is the genuine human touch here. Thanks to Manager Zhao and Ma Shuqin, and to all the staff. This reunion after three years was as warm as the first time.

I booked a business room for the Dragon Boat Festival at 398 [yuan]. Honestly, I didn't have high expectations for that price, and it turned out exactly as I thought – just like a budget hotel. But the room was incredibly noisy. Both windows faced a main road. I contacted the front desk to change rooms, and they told me I had booked a partial sea view. I was like, 'No, I booked a garden view!' I couldn't sleep all night; cars were whizzing by. My kid woke up at 5 AM because of the noise. It was our first day in Weihai, and I deeply regret choosing this hotel. It's ruined our whole trip so far. We checked out very early and just got out of there. It was terrifying, I've never stayed in a hotel like this before.
