Old Colonial, Weston-Super-Mare by Marston's Inns

This is our 4th time at the Old Colonial this year and we love it here,the rooms are nice and clean with a nice bathroom and very comfy beds. It is right on the sea front and close to all shops and bars and with free parking. The only downside this time was the roast dinner had to send it back because it was cold and when we had it back it was not much better,plus the beef was processed and not proper beef but it is a nice place stay.

Overall it was a pleasant stay and certainly not the worst place to be. Pros and cons as you find in most places. Family rooms are spacious and beds are comfortable with a nice sea view. Nice location and the 11pm check in was ideal due to travelling on the evening and great staff can accommodate for this. Only downfalls: The shower had poor pressure and took several minutes to warm up then would become far too hot and take a lot of fiddling and waiting to get it to an ideal temperature. The bath mat had marks on on it also which was off putting. The extractor fan didn't work either and there was mould surrounding it unfortunately. The rooms are certainly not sound proof either, we could even hear the neighbouring room turn their light switch on/off. We did not try the food so cannot comment on this.

Lovely quick stopover. Clean and tidy .spacious room. Excellent value for money. The rooms have had a well needed refresh. We have stayed here numerous times for the best part of 20 years. Credit to them, this was probably the nicest stay we have had. We had food in the bar downstairs, couldn’t fault it. good value pub grub. Staff were excellent. Couldn’t do enough for us. We had a teenager with us, so the pool table , darts and the board games available enhanced our family time. Will definitely be returning and recommending.

Absolutely amazing hotel!! I live locally and come here almost every day. Before learning to cook, I actually ate here everyday and their food is really good. It’s such a nice, chilled, relaxing bar, allows dogs, even gives them water and treats!! The staff are second to none, always so helpful and friendly, really make you feel your custom is appreciated. I cannot recommend The Old Colonial enough.

We booked 2 nights at this hotel after reading good reviews, however our experience was very different from what the reviews suggested! When we checked in we were told that food was served until 8 pm and drinks till 10pm. We confirmed this when we went to the bar for a drink. We came down from our room at 7.45 to order our food, only to be told that they had closed the kitchen! We stated that we had been told that we could order food until 8, but it made no difference. This was very disappointing and totally unacceptable, they knew we were staying there and had told them we wanted to eat, but they didn't even tell us they were closing early. I find that unacceptable. Also, the room was NOT serviced and we had just 2 teabags between 2 of us for two nights!!! The experience was not a good one and we would never go there again!

Day visit to Weston SuperMare with relatives, ordered some food and drinks. Food not value for money. The venue itself interior and building poor and depressing. Half of the food menu was not available. The staff don’t even smile! Never again !

Check in no issues . Staff polite and friendly . However I had to cut short my visit after 5 hours . I was placed in room 4 and I would suggest to anyone with a family to refuse this room at all costs . This was due to the inconsiderate herd of elephants upstairs with an ill disciplined kid that took it upon themselves to use the bed as a trampoline causing severe banging . I tolerated this for 5 hours before my nerve finally broke . I approached reception and asked for them to deal with this or relocate us as now my 3 year old was constantly being woken by the banging , and I may add from 1830-2230 till I made my complaint . Unfortunately there was nothing the staff could do except be apologetic . This left me no choice but to pack up and leave and drive back the 50 miles to home , ruining our weekend . As I booked through booking I was advised to escalate this to them first before taking things further . My family and I should not have been put into a situation of grin and bear it . Trust me I’m certainly used to loud bangs being a veteran of Iraq . But that night was an absolute joke . And many times my wife had to stop me from going upstairs and really losing it which would have ended very badly . So again you want a decent family hotel avoid this one .

The Staff were all very friendly hotel rooms were big and spacious could easy spend a week there breakfast was great all freshly done just 1 little problem water pressure on top floors but would happy to stay again great value for money. Thanks Steff Bond Room 6

Room was a nice size with sea view .windows wouldnt close so with the storm the room was cold with curtains blowing all day / night .had to stand near taps to have a shower .no lift so struggled with stairs to the top of the building due to heart problems .staff were nice and nice food in the pub
