We wanted a relaxing stay near Ashville. The Reynolds Mansion was the perfect retreat. The owners are such nice and engaging people. They are very knowledgeable about the restaurants and attractions in Asheville. A great source of information and they are willing to share . We had very pleasant conversations with them about the house, the area and many other things. The house and rooms are very charming and comfortable. We stayed in the Linda room. King bed and a recently renovated bathroom with a stand up shower. The sink is just outside the bathroom but out of the way. The bed is king sized. The room is on the second floor. There is a second story porch that we really enjoyed in the mornings and evenings. Great view of the mountains and see the sunset. A nice place to read or just sit and relax. Same for the back porch. After spending our days at various Ashville attractions, we found ourselves relaxing on the back porch, reading, snacking and just relaxing. The rooms have split AC units for comfort. We had a TV in the room that we did not turn on. There is good wifi signal in the room and on the porches. The real star of the show is breakfast!. The owners carefully plan the menu each day so that there is a different experience in dishes and ingredients each day. Breakfast is a four course affair, served at a relaxed pace. A full hour is needed to get through it. It is served at a set time from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. Those are set hours. Each course is served separately. All I can say is that the food is incredible. It starts with what might be described as a smooth, followed by a fruit course, then a meat / egg course and finally a sweet or dessert course. The owner did not give us any indication of what would be served each day, nor did we ask. We had four mornings there to enjoy the surprises they prepared and were pleased beyond description. Also included with breakfast was orange juice, coffee and water. All was served on China appropriate to the setting. While the setting appears to be quite formal, the atmosphere is relaxed. The grounds are comfortable. Plenty of trees for shade, flowere and plants of various types. Chairs and a hammock in the back yard as well as several on the porches to sit out. There is a sports bar with pub fare less than a 5 minute walk to get a late light dinner, watch a game or play trivia on Tuesday night. Many restaurants and other places to get necessities are close by. We are looking to return to the area to do a couple of days of hiking and fully intend to stay again to enjoy the charm, breakfasts and good company. Highly recommend!!!!!
