The rice looked delicious so I added breakfast. A choice without regrets The large public bath was small but had everything you needed, but the sauna was not operating due to the coronavirus. It is a good choice as it has a friendly owner, convenient parking, and a supermarket right in front. However, due to the nature of Yakushima, where it rains a lot, it would be good to have a tool to dry hiking shoes at the accommodation, but this place has a strong ryokan character, so if you plan to hike, it would be a good idea to consider other accommodations.

It's old, the walls are thin, and you can hear people talking in the corridor, but the rooms, toilets, and baths are all very clean and satisfying. The people at the guest house were bright and friendly, and I was able to spend comfortably.

When I was looking for a domestic trekking tour, I found a package tour (basically a guest house, accommodation can be changed to a pension or hotel) and stayed at a guest house (Yakusugi-so). My husband and I were mainly trekking, so we weren't too particular about accommodation. The guest house was clean every day, including the rooms, corridors, and toilets, so I was able to spend a comfortable time. The good thing about this inn is that the meals are devised every day, and the meals are very delicious. Plenty of food (good for people who want to eat a lot). There is a "coin laundry" that is perfect for dirty things after trekking, and it is easy because you can do it while taking a bath. Also, the bath is very convenient because it can be used 24 hours a day. In addition, there are A-coop where you can shop, bars and restaurants nearby (3 minutes), which is very convenient. If you extend your legs further, you can also go to food and drinking establishments. At the guest house and restaurant, local specialties (deep-fried flying fish, neck mackerel, etc.) were delicious. The weather was just right before the beginning of the rainy season. (The Jomon Cedar/Shiratani Unsuikyo trekking guide said that this time of year would be good because there were few people.) I also went sightseeing in Yakushima and got to know the nature of Yakushima, and it was a very good place. If you go, I think it's a place to spend time. We would like to go again if we have a chance.
