Altido Affordable York

Very good value for money ,after a last minute decision to come to York races for a couple of days ,went on *********** and found there wasn't a lot of places left to stay ,ended up booking here as was one of very few left in our price range , was slightly nervous about it being student accommodation but needed of worried ,the room was very basic but spotlessly clean , even toiletries provided in the bathroom ,the lady on reception was lovely and very helpful ,great location with only a ten minute walk into the centre of everything , was very warm but a fan is provided ,we only sleep a little and get washed in the room so was more than adequate for our needs ,we will definitely return , fantastic value for money ,had friends staying elsewhere who had paid treble more than us . Thank you for your hospitality

A little bit out of the way, but only a short walk to the Shambles, bus stops, and lots of shopping and restaurants. I was happy with my stay.

Had a fabulous stay. This is student accommodation let out through summer at very reasonable prices It's exceptionally clean and modern. Rooms are just what you need bathroom is supplied with fresh towels and toiletries. The bed was so comfortable. There are no brew facilities in the room but there is a very modern lounge with TV with countless channels tea coffee to help yourself to. The staff are very welcoming and helpful nothing was too much trouble. They look happy in there job which you don't see often. It is a 10min walk to the shambles and all attractions. I have already recommended ALTIDO to friends and family as there was nothing I could fault. Morrisons is a 5 minute walk that do full breakfast at a reasonable price as breakfast is not provided. It's is very well run & spotlessly clean with very friendly staff. They should be very proud of how this place is run. I'd definitely go back. Well done 10/10 👌. 😁😁😁

My husband and I stayed at the Altido in York for 10 nights during August 2022. The positives were there were plenty of sockets, WiFi and the security was good. The girls on reception were pleasant and helpful. The room was in a good location near to places of interest. The negatives were that our room was so hot it was unbearable, there was no ventilation. After two nights of no sleep I asked for a fan which was provided however it had minimal effect. The room was continuously like a sauna, I didn't manage to sleep a night while we were there. The room was so small only one of us was able to walk past the bed at a time. The bed was pushed against the wall so my husband who is in his 60's had to climb over me during the night or climb to the bottom of the bed to use the bathroom. I fell out of bed one night which wasn't surprising as the double bed is a small double, 4ft. The bathroom was tiny, it also had no ventilation, there was an extractor fan but it didn't work. In the shower we kept banging our arms on the walls and we are both small people. It was impossible to shut the bathroom door, primarily it became so hot in there I could have fainted. There was quite a step from the shower to get in and out so you had to be careful. There were no tea and coffee making facilities, even though I have read on another website that there are communal areas on all floors to make tea and coffee, we were never told about this and we seen no evidence of this. We didn't even have a glass in the room to have a drink of water from the bathroom tap. This was a late booking so we didn't have a lot of choice left of places to stay, I wish I had payed slightly more and had the benefits of a proper hotel. Be careful of other sites reviews saying how great the place is because the honest review I left was printed as I had written it, instead a snapshot of the good bits was printed.

Staff lovely but so many places in York are so much better value. Basically a clean, ( very) small student room with tiny e/s shower and towels full stop. Literally, that’s it!! Some review sites mention use of communal area with tea and coffee - the common rooms this refers to are not available this year. Yes, great location- but so are loads of individually owned, charming b&bs for less than £100 per night. Mid a building site, hard to find, rooms do have plug in fans due to stuffy small room and no air con. Not even a bottle of water in the room let alone a kettle or tv!!! Best I can say is friendly staff, good wi fi and decent plug sockets. Hope at least the whacking great profit they are making gets ploughed back into upgrading facilities for the students.
