Departing from Xining · One-day self-driving tour to Erlangjian, Qinghai Lake 🚗 Non-stop original shots all the way! From the highway, you can see the golden sunlight on the mountains from afar. Colorful prayer flags flutter by the roadside, adding color to the golden grassland wilderness. Turning onto the national highway, passing the Tang-Tibetan Ancient Road, arriving near Riyue Mountain, and continuing forward, the snow-capped mountains and lake begin to respond, reaching that deep blue—Qinghai Erlangjian. The wind is strong, waves crash on the beach, and the seagulls are adorably noisy. Because it’s the off-season, there are many tourists, making it easy to get great shots. 🌄 The return trip is a hidden gem: heading back to Xining along the East Ring Road of the lake, at the end of the lake by the national highway, sand dunes suddenly appear. Racing along with the sunset, you find that beyond the dunes are the shaded snow mountains. Under the afterglow of the setting sun, shepherds drive their lambs home, and nearby homes emit curling smoke from cooking fires. Every frame looks like a movie scene. 💡 Trip tips: · For self-driving, remember to check the local weather in advance to avoid slipping. Xining → Erlangjian takes about 2.5 hours by car (highway). · There are some small shops along the Tang-Tibetan Ancient Road; it’s recommended to check the menu and portion sizes first to avoid being overcharged. · When arriving at Erlangjian Scenic Area, buy tickets directly at the visitor center (there are discounts in the off-season, only 40 yuan). Don’t trust those touts in the parking lot! After entering the main gate, take the sightseeing bus to get inside the scenic area. · Driving back to Xining via the East Ring Road of the lake, you will encounter “lake-sand-mountain” scenery with stunning sunset light and shadows; however, there are many downhill curves, so drive carefully.
