Hengdaohezi: A leisurely small town where time slows down, the Northeast's own Hokkaido! A holy land for travel photography

10 must-do things in Hengdaohezi: Visit the Oil Painting Village to see century-old Russian-style buildings and Russian-style streets. Eat freshly baked leba (raisin bread, different from the traditional leba in taste, but very delicious, only a little over 20 yuan, and the bakery is a great place for photos). Take photos of the red-roofed cottages at the train station. Visit the Hengdao Art Museum (free admission, oil paintings, beautiful corridors, quite large, and it's fun to compare the beautiful building paintings with the actual scenery). Have a hot drink at Hengdao Coffee (the cups are pretty for check-ins). Take photos at the railway crossing (the scene is serene as if you are in Hokkaido). Visit the Catholic Church of Our Lady's Entry, one of the only remaining wooden churches in the country, now converted into the Middle East Railway Museum, worth a detailed visit (and you can get a commemorative stamp). Go to the locomotive shed to see the trains (the shed is a museum with various steam trains, train models, photo galleries, etc., don't miss out, this is where director Tsui Hark filmed 'The Taking of Tiger Mountain', the battle between the small squad and the bandits at the beginning of the movie was shot here). Have a meal of tendon pancake rolls with everything, accompanied by blackcurrant juice, the taste is amazing! (The tendon pancake is super thin, you can read through it when laid on a book haha, roll it with willow root river fish, shredded potatoes, elbow meat... The only downside is the oily hands, no other flaws. You can also buy some local specialties like soybean paste, dried tofu, honey. The stuff is not expensive at all.) Oh! A little tip: the restaurants near the train station are much cheaper than those at the highway exit!
