In 1333 (the third year of the Genwa era), Akamatsu Village built a temple on Mount Himeji and began building a castle on it. In 1346 (the first year of the Zhengping era), Chisong Zhenfan built Jilu City. The existing castle complex was built under the leadership of the daimyo Ikeda Yoshimasa, and was completed in 1609. The biggest feature of the castle, which drove the scholar Himeji Castle, is the use of a connected eaves in the style of a joint tower called the Great Natural Guard Tani, West Little Heavenly Guard, Qian (meaning northwest) Little Heavenly Guard, and East Little Heavenly Guard in the southeast.
