WWII village remains.

Few people know or are aware of this martyr location- that is now a remembrance site & permanent reminder of the horrors of World war. It is the site of the worst single atrocity in France during WWII. Four days after D-day on the 10 June 1944 this village witnessed the massacre of 643 men, women & children who were rounded up by a German SS Waffen group as collective punishment for apparent 'resistance' in the area. I do not wish to state how the residents were murdered- but the women & children suffered a worst fate than the men. This small town is now an open-air visitation place that is free to enter without booking. Limoges is the nearest city with an infrequent bus directly to Oradour sur Glane.
