Port Arthur Historic Site - Ghost Tour

Located 1.5 hours drive from Hobart is the Port Arthur Historic site. Initially created as a timber gathering site in the 1830’s, Port Arthur quickly became of major importance to emerging colonies in Australia due to its highly productive ship yards. The site is large & nestled in a valley, with paths guiding your way around the site. On arrival each visitor is giving a playing card, this corresponds to a past occupant of Port Arthur & you will learn about then down stairs in the museums. Once you have visited the museum you then head onto a 40 minute introductory tour, which shows you around the sight and gives you a deeper insight into the history of the people and the building that formed Port Arthur. After that you proceed to the dock for your bay tour which is also included in the entry fee. This tour which goes out around one of the most important islands of the settlement is again guided. After that you are free to roam the grounds and explore the rest of the site. There are a wide range of extra tours on offer including the “After Dark pack” which includes a 2 course meal at their on-site restaurant and a 90 minute ghost tour. The food was incredible and we had an extremely knowledgeable guide who made the experience very enjoyable.
