View St. Vitus Cathedral through the colorful stained glass windows.

St. Vitus Cathedral is the most important landmark of Prague Castle, the cathedral of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Prague, and the largest church in the Czech Republic. It took nearly 600 years to build the cathedral, and its grandeur can be seen from almost every angle in Prague. The spires, pointed arches, and flying buttresses are the three main features of the Gothic church's exterior, and this magnificent Gothic cathedral has caused countless architects to work tirelessly, while also incorporating Baroque and Renaissance styles. Queueing to enter the church, I was immediately struck by the magnificent stained glass inside. Despite the crowded conditions, the awe-inspiring beauty kept my head held high, constantly looking upwards. The stained glass windows are the works of Prague's famous painter Mucha, adding a lot of modernity to this millennium-old church. Here lies the body of St. John Pock, who was thrown off the Charles Bridge in 1393 for refusing to reveal the confessions of the queen to the king. (There is a marker on the Charles Bridge indicating where he was thrown off.) The colorful glass windows are truly stunning. If there is regret, I think it would be even more beautiful if we came in the late afternoon when the sun was setting and the sunlight shone through the stained glass windows, casting colorful shadows into the church. But this afternoon is also not open to the public, and I am very fortunate that we came early.
