Longgui Town, Shaoguan: By the Jiangwan River ~ Wenwu Pavilion Tower

📍The Wenwu Pavilion Tower is located on the bank of the Jiangwan River in Fangtian Village Committee, Longgui Town, Wujiang District, Shaoguan City, Guangdong Province. 🌟This tower was built in the 11th year of Jiaqing in the Qing Dynasty (1806) and was renovated in 2006. It is a city-level cultural relics protection unit. The Wenwu Pavilion Tower is a hexagonal five-story pavilion-style brick and stone tower, 15.56 meters high. The lintel has the sun-engraved words 'Wenwu Pavilion', each word is about 0.15 square meters. Both its inner and outer surfaces are plastered with lime paste, the base of the tower is stone-built, the first floor tower door faces west, is arched, and is built with limestone bricks. It is said that the Wenwu Pavilion Tower was built by local gentry to promote the local literary style. During the Jiaqing period of the Qing Dynasty, the literary style in the Fangtian Village area was not prosperous. The gentry believed that this was related to the local feng shui. In order to change this situation, the gentry invited a feng shui master. After some investigation, it was believed that building a Wenwu Pavilion Tower on the bank of the Jiangwan River could improve the local feng shui and thus promote the literary style. Therefore, the gentry organized the local villagers to raise funds to build this Wenwu Pavilion Tower. ✅According to the current statement, this Wenwu Pavilion Tower is really a symbolic project. It has gone through more than 200 years of wind and rain, and it is hoped that it can play a positive role in promoting the revitalization of new rural construction!
