The landforms in the textbook, Binggou Danxia, a fantastical secret realm

Binggou Danxia scenic area is a part of the Zhangye Danxia National Geopark, mainly distributed in Sunan County, known as the home of the Yugur people, in Zhangye City, Gansu Province, divided into the Xiaoxitian and Daxitian scenic areas. It is the most typical Danxia landform in the arid regions of China and also one of the most complete and uniquely shaped Danxia landforms in the country. The area is widely covered with Danxia cliffs, stone walls, stone columns, sharp peaks, and hills, which are steep and continuous, with a magnificent momentum. The Danxia wonders here win with their external shapes, and it also boasts the largest window lattice-style palace-like landform in China. Interestingly, although it is called Binggou, which means 'ice ditch,' it has nothing to do with ice and snow. Today's Binggou Danxia, although no longer has flowing water or glaciers to follow, the retreat of ice and water has perfectly contributed to the creation of the Danxia wonders. From a distance, it looks like a series of palaces, and up close, it resembles thousands of Buddhas in meditation, making one marvel at the magic of nature's creation.
