Bashan Grand Canyon

The predecessor of Bashan Grand Canyon was 'Xuanhan Baili Gorge', located in Xuanhan County, Dazhou City, Sichuan Province. It is a national AAAA level tourist attraction, a national geological park, and a provincial nature reserve. It is a mountain canyon natural scenic area composed of karst landforms and is the location of the national intangible cultural heritage Tujia Haocao Drum. The Bashan Grand Canyon is a karst landform, with six major mountain ranges supporting ten main peaks. The scenic area has a long history and numerous historical sites. There are sites left by Fan Kuai's garrison in the late Qin and early Han dynasties, such as General Ping, Paoma Liang, Shuanma Shi, Datong Xian Road and Shizhan Road, and sites left by Zhang Xianzhong and the White Lotus Sect, such as Qinglongzhai and Dazhaizi. The Bashan Grand Canyon has a unique mountainous terrain, clear rivers, numerous caves, many precious animals, and rich and rare plants; surrounded by mountains and rivers, deep valleys in a line, peak clusters into the clouds, harmonious and perfect. There are ten major scenic spots such as Hundred Beasts Gathering, Fairy Rock, Guanyin Cave, South Heaven Gate, Two Dragons Flying Waterfall, Old Huangshan, Rhinoceros Looking at the Moon, One Line Sky, Panlong Cave, and Rooster Crowing Heaven. Each has its own characteristics and forms a whole, and they complement each other, forming a perfect and harmonious whole of the 300-mile gorge scenic area.
