Travel Guide to the Ancient Village of Xidi in Anhui

❤️ Appetizer Xidi in Anhui is an important site for studying Hui-style architecture and the culture of southern Anhui. The village preserves 224 ancient residential buildings from the Ming and Qing dynasties, 124 of which are listed as key national cultural relics protection units. In 2000, it was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. 🧡 Tour Route The entire ancient village of Xidi is traversed by three streams. You can visit and view along the bluestone paths by the streams. Xidi is divided into the cultural landscape of the western village and the natural landscape of the eastern hillside. From the entrance of the scenic area, after visiting the Pao Ma Lou and the archway, you can enter the ancient village, and then go up to the mountain pavilion to take a distant view of the entire ancient village of Xidi. 💚Attraction Categories There are many attractions in Xidi, as many as over 20. Based on architectural features, I divide them into the following categories. ① Traditional Hui-style residences: Kuang Gu Zhai, Rui Yu Ting, Tao Li Yuan, Dun Ren Tang, Ying Fu Tang, Rui Yu Ting ② Garden residences: Dong Yuan, Xi Yuan. The architecture has already incorporated Jiangnan gardens into Hui-style architecture. ③ Siheyuan (courtyard houses): Qing Yun Xuan. The owner of the residence came from the capital, and the courtyard is structured as a siheyuan with east and west wing rooms, and the 'four waters return to the hall' also converge in the courtyard. Di Ji Tang and Du Yi Ting also have a clear courtyard enclosure layout. ④ Hui-style ancestral halls: Jing Ai Tang and Zhui Mu Tang. Jing Ai Tang covers a very large area and is the largest of the many Hui-style ancestral halls I have visited so far. ⑤ Hui-style archways: Hu Wen Guang Ci Shi Archway. Functional buildings: Pao Ma Lou. I won't go into detail about the architectural features of each building, as it would be too lengthy. I will introduce each individual building separately later. 💙 Night Tour of Xidi You can take a night tour of Xidi, which is truly awesome. The ancient village is even more charming under the light show. Xidi is creating a night scene with lavish spending. Water mist, lasers, projections, and lighting create a three-dimensional effect for Xidi. The night tour of Xidi is not to be missed. The ticket for Xidi includes unlimited entries within three days. If you go to Xidi in the morning, you can visit other nearby attractions in the afternoon and re-enter to see the night view in the evening.
