Mt Cangyan Scenic Area Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
I went here during Chinese holidays, but it wasn't crowdy very much. So I can recommend this place in China. But first of all because of its beauty, of course. Temple is gorgeous. you can use cable car to get up / down. Cable car is not cheap, but this price is usual in China for such attractions. Also on the way back you can get taxi van if you are tired. It's not expensive at all but the ride was pretty fast as for me🙄🤗🤗

Hiking through Cangyan Mountain, this is the actual filming location for 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon'
I first learned about Cangyan Mountain from the ending of Ang Lee's movie 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon', where the rebellious Yu Jiaolong leaps from the bridge into the misty abyss. Although the place in the movie is Wudang Mountain, the actual filming location is Cangyan Mountain in Hebei, 800 kilometers away.
·
It takes over 2 hours to drive from Shijiazhuang, following the grand and robust Taihang Mountains and Gantao River. It must be said that Hebei is really low-key, such a treasure of a scenic spot, even during the National Day holiday, is not too crowded.
·
The Cangyan Mountain scenic area is actually based on the ancient temple of Fuqing Temple, which has a history of over 1400 years. The main structure is the Princess Nanyang Shrine, including the Zen rooms, ancient temples, pavilions, and steles built along the mountain, most of which are relics from the Ming and Qing dynasties.
·
When we went, the Cangyan Mountain cable car was not open, and we hiked the whole way, taking a big loop. The intensity was not too great, some sections were steep, but the journey was not long.
🎒Route: Mountain Gate - Wanshian Hall - Qiaolou Hall - Guandi Temple - Princess Shrine - Princess Tomb - Bodhisattva Peak - Jade Emperor Peak - East Heaven Gate - Mountain Gate.
⏰Time: 3 hours+
·
✅Wanshian Hall: Built during the Ming dynasty, it is a Buddhist hall that integrates Buddhism, Taoism, and Confucianism. According to the stele, it was once part of a palace complex. It was under renovation when we visited, so it was of average interest, but there were several old steles in the stele pavilion in front, and we unexpectedly found a damaged provincial protected stele.
✅Qiaolou Hall: The crowning touch of Fuqing Temple and the soul of Cangyan Mountain, it is known as one of China's three major hanging temples. The stone bridge part of Qiaolou Hall is said to be built during the Sui dynasty, slightly earlier than the Zhaozhou Bridge. The main hall was rebuilt during the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing dynasty, a two-story double-eaved pavilion-style building with a golden glazed tile roof and vermilion columns spanning between two steep cliffs, each displaying splendor.
✅Guandi Temple: Here, leaning against the railing and looking back at Qiaolou Hall offers a better view, allowing you to capture the waterfall below and the steep peaks. If you want to take photos with people, you can go to the nearby Fa Wei Platform, climb up to a small platform that is great for group photos.
✅Princess Shrine: The main hall of Fuqing Temple, built on the edge of a cliff, is said to have been the residence of Princess Nanyang. The shrine is three bays wide and one bay deep, with a single-eaved Xieshan-style yellow-green glazed roof. Inside the shrine, in the middle of the three niches, sits a colored sculpture of Princess Nanyang, with four standing musicians on each side, each with a different expression, lifelike, probably all original sculptures. In addition, the murals about the story of Princess Nanyang inside the shrine are also worth seeing. Next to the shrine is a sutra pagoda, which does not appear to be earlier than the Jin dynasty.
✅Princess Tomb: Commonly known as 'Three Empress Dowager' among the locals, it is said that Princess Nanyang passed away here. The main structures have been rebuilt in recent years, and unexpectedly, this tomb even has an underground palace, with a slightly eerie atmosphere, startled by the covered statues inside.
✅Bodhisattva Peak: Built during the Ming dynasty, what we see today has been rebuilt in recent years. It is the largest temple complex in Cangyan Mountain, but that's about it. Inside, there's even a nonsensical female corpse exhibition. From the cliffs outside Bodhisattva Peak, you can overlook the Qiaolou Hall area, where three single-arch stone bridges are embedded like flying rainbows between the steep cliffs on both sides, a magnificent sight.
✅Jade Emperor Peak: Built during the Ming dynasty, all have been rebuilt in recent years, can be skipped if time is short.
✅East Heaven Gate: This is the position directly opposite Qiaolou Hall, where you can photograph the relationship between Qiaolou Hall and the surrounding mountains, but a telephoto lens is needed.

I found my homeland
#2024wish Going to China last October was my trip of a lifetime for three reasons:
*-* my homestay teacher for the Chinese language course became my older sister, who also taught me guqin, Baduanjin, took me to the dentist and hairdresser, and is still my teacher via WeChat lessons;
*-* for the first time I could visit the land of my ancestors after learning Chinese for three years at uni, and I did it alone, without any tours;
*-* I bought a beautiful violin from a Luthier in Suzhou, and got it back to Australia safely in a violin case I remodelled to fit in the airplane cabin rack! Even though it is a backup violin, it is beautiful and brilliant in sound. The crack "Chinese-made junk" couldn't be more wrong.

This isn't in the south, it's in Jingxing, Shijiazhuang!
🌳I didn't expect to find such a Jiangnan-style park here, where you can feel as if you're in the Jiangnan region. Today, I'm here to check in at the Shijiazhuang Ziyuan Hui-style Ancient Architecture Museum, which is a surprisingly delightful place! 💃
🏠Park Name: Hanbi Garden
📍Location: Navigate to Hanbi Garden (No. 9 Jing Stone Expressway, Jingxing County) right by the roadside, you'll see it immediately after the tunnel! 🌉
💰Cost: The scenic area is currently free of charge, just scan the code to enter the park, super convenient! 💸
I took a casual stroll, and it took just an hour or two. If you experience the rubbing culture in the rubbing exhibition, it might take a bit longer. Speaking of which, we also tried rubbing, and it was really interesting! 🎨 (Charges 20)
👗Clothing: I highly recommend wearing Chinese-style clothes, cheongsams or Hanfu are both suitable, especially black and white colors for taking photos! 👘
Actually, after visiting here, you can also go to other places in Jingxing. I found that there are quite a few places to play in Jingxing. For example, Stone Village, Cangyan Mountain... We later went to play with water near Gushan, which was so much fun! Oh, and I also walked through a stone tunnel like a cliffside road, which gave me a sense of time travel, super thrilling! Try a Jingxing day trip on the weekend! 🌊
If you like my notes, don't forget to give a like and follow! 💕Let's discover more great places together next time! ✨

Hebei Tour Recommendation | Hanbi Garden
Hanbi Garden, a museum of ancient architecture of the Ziyuanhui School
Address: No. 9 Jing Shi Expressway, Jingxing County
Transportation: You can take the Jingxing-Nanjiao bus directly from Nanjiao Passenger Station
It is recommended to drive there, about 40 minutes from the city
Food: There is a breakfast stall at the entrance, the prices in the snack shop in the garden are the same as the market prices, there is no other catering nearby, and the garden is currently soliciting businesses
Garden opening hours: 9:00~17:00 But!!! The exhibition hall in the garden is closed at noon. So it's best to avoid the time from 12:00 to 13:00!
Dress: Pay attention to sun protection on sunny days! Pay attention to heatstroke prevention!!!
Pets: Pets are not allowed in the garden
Looking from a distance, the whole building is situated at the foot of Taihang Mountain, with white walls, green tiles and horse head walls. It is said that many things were collected, repaired and transported back from the south for restoration. The roof beams are from the Daoguang period, with the time of creation recorded.
As soon as you enter, there is a sense that it stands quietly here as if waiting for a rain to dye the gray tiles and white walls into ink paintings. It belongs to the misty weather, the drizzle falls with the tiles to form a water curtain, savor a cup of tea, and quietly empty. The four waters return to the hall, gathering wealth with the scenery, the perfect combination of ancient architecture and feng shui. Come next time it rains! The atmosphere is full!
Private exhibition hall, mainly hosting commercial exhibitions, free to the public. The park has not been fully built, the infrastructure is not perfect, and some venues are not open. I hope to activate the entire industrial chain of the park! What about homestays! Tea houses! Restaurants! The owner of the Hanfu Qipao Experience Hall, please look here! Start your business dream! I'm so angry that I didn't see the exhibition this time!!! I will come again!

Century Park under the warm spring sun
❤️Recommended reason:
After the Spring Festival, the weather in Magic City is mostly gloomy and rainy🌧️, and the drizzling rain🌧️ makes people feel gloomy and depressed.
This is not, the weekend finally cleared up for two days, which is perfect for going to the park for an outing.
🚉Transportation strategy:
Living in Pudong, Century Park is a good choice, with direct access by Metro Line 2🚊, and it takes about half an hour to drive🚗, parking spaces🅿️ are a bit tight, and there is paid parking available on the streets surrounding the park.
📝Note tips:
It's been a long time since I've been here, and now the park has canceled the admission fee (I remember it used to be ¥10 per person), manually like👍
❤️Recommended reason:
The lawns of the park are basically occupied by camping tents🏕️ and small dining tables, with the whole family out in force, and it's clear that everyone has been cooped up at home for too long
The kids are having a great time flying kites🪁, while the adults are putting all their energy into jumping rope. It even attracts passers-by to stop and watch, cheering them on.
❤️Recommended reason:
The lake in the center of the park is also busy, with parents taking their children boating on the lake🚣...
Now there are also many new food and beverage shops in the park, with seasonal products like green dumplings sold out. Next to it is MANNER, where the shop is also bustling with no spare seats.
The weather forecast says that next week will be another week of overcast and rainy weather, so take advantage of this rare warm spring sun to go to the park for an outing~
