Artistic universe of Okuda in Madrid
Newly open art museum - Museo Gran Via 15 - in the center of Madrid presented the colorful universe of Spanish artist Okuda San Miguel as the first exhibition.
Located just a few steps away from Gran Via metro station, right at the heart of Madrid, this museum has taken the space of a former jewelry where the Royal family used to shop.
Now the walls of the space host a different type of precious items: and this time they allow for a journey through the works of one of Spain’s most international creators today: Okuda San Miguel.
A colorful artist who began with graffiti and street interventions has created a unique space and boasts artworks all around the world: US, Mexico, Italy, UK, China, Korea…
It is really worthy to check out and spend one afternoon admiring the artwork and stories behind this artists of the 21 century.

The main shopping street in Madrid
Gran Via is regarded as the main commercial street in Madrid. It contains many shopping stores, including the flagship store for Zara and Primark. It is a convenient place to shop since many stores are located nearby to one another.
After retail therapy, you may consider a local café that sells coffee, hot chocolate and churros!

Beautiful Christmas lights in Madrid
Although travelling in the winter can be troublesome - you need to pack thicker clothes which makes your luggage heavier and the day is much shorter, you get Christmas lights, Christmas markets and festive events that you don’t have in the summer.
If you walk by Gran Via, Retiro and most robust areas in Madrid, you instantly feel the joy and excitement of the winter season with the festive songs that being played in shops and the decorations in the street and department stores.
The winter in Madrid isn’t horribly cold (around 10 degree on average) - you get to feel the change of season but still manage to do most outdoor activities without feeling frozen.

Go for a walk in Retiro Park
walk down Gran Via
Gran Via is to Madrid what the Champs Elysees is to Paris. This magnificent street is synonymous with the city and has been the location for many Madrid-themed movies and TV shows. Centered on Gran Via is the Metropolitan Tower, which adorns any photo you'll see of this famous street. Architecture aside, it's an interesting place to enjoy food, shopping and entertainment.
Hang out at Puerta del Sol
Madrid's second square, Puerta del Sol is the center of Madrid's - mainly Spanish - life. Keep an eye out for the kilometer zero board, which marks the start of the country's six national highways. The big clock at Puerto del Sol is the main clock of the city - a popular place for people to gather on New Year's Eve!
Visit the Cibeles Palace located in the Plaza de Cibeles of the same name.
Visit the Royal Palace of Madrid
The Royal Palace is the official residence of the Spanish royal family, although today it is used only for ceremonies. Originally a Moorish castle built by Mohammed I, it was destroyed by fire in the 18th century. Soon after, the palace was completed in 1738. The Royal Palace of Madrid is open from October to March from 10am to 6pm and from April to October from 10am to 8pm. 11 euros for adults and 14 euros for guides.
Enter the Almudena Cathedral
Spain is a very religious country, and the Almudena Cathedral is the grandest place of worship in the capital. Entry to the cathedral is free, but a donation is recommended.
Day trips from Madrid in winter
go to toledo
The ancient city of Toledo was the capital of Spain until 1560. It's only an hour's drive from Madrid, and it's no surprise that it's full of historic buildings and monuments. Toledo is about an hour's drive from Madrid. You can easily go there by bus

Madrid Broadway
Gran Via is the most famous boulevard with rows of shops, restaurants and some of the most iconic buildings in the capital, Madrid. It was founded between 1910 and 1929, with the nearest metro stations are Gran Via and Callao.
Watch the Lion King, the Cirque du Soleil and many at one of the venues on and around Gran Via. It is not surprising that there are many great restaurants in the area.
The 1.3 kilometers are covered daily by thousands and thousands of people and tourists. It is a key visit if you are going to Madrid, it is also a street to walk looking not only at the shops and the peoples, but it is also worth taking a look up and look at the facade of its beautiful buildings.

Gran Vía Gran Via – rooftop view
For some shopping, or just strolling the streets of Madrid, go on Gran Vía (“Great Way”). This street, sometimes referred to as the “Spanish Broadway”, is one of the city’s most important shopping areas, with a large number of hotels and movie theatres, although many of these theatres have been replaced by shopping centres. Nonetheless, perfect for an evening walk and great for some shopping. Whilst in the area, we also visited Azotea del Círculo rooftop bar for the best panoramic view of the capital. Went there for a coffee but would certainly go there anytime of the day to enjoy the views!
