One of the standout features of this hotel is the efficiency of the staff. The check-in and check-out processes were super fast, which is always appreciated after a long day of travel. Additionally, the hotel provides free parking, a major plus for those of us driving in KK where parking can often be a challenge.
The accommodations were excellent. Both the room and the toilet were spotless, maintaining a high standard of cleanliness throughout my stay. I also appreciated that they were generous with essentials—there was sufficient drinking water provided, so I never felt the need to constantly request more.
Breakfast at the hotel was a pleasant experience. While the quality of the food was nice, I did find the variety a bit limited and hope they can provide more choices in the future to keep the buffet exciting.
However, the absolute highlight of the morning was the fresh juice station. It is easily the best part of the breakfast service; you can request specific fruits, and the staff prepares the juice freshly for you right on the spot. It’s a personalized touch that really elevates the meal.

Never expecting this such great location,
Just walk within 10 min to Pasar Philipin, wet market, grocery and so on .
Amenities well prepared, staff was so kind.
I forgot her name. Check in late evening and she really helpful and full of greeting.
And one more things, i LEFT MY WALLET here,
And after arriving at the airport i noticed my wallet was lost or missing. Then i call the receptionist, THEY KEPT my wallet . 😭
All staff members are so kind! From cleaning services till the front desk !
KUDOS!
I will come again!!
THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU!
I cant thank you enough.

Stayed at Le Méridien Kota Kinabalu recently and had a really enjoyable experience. The location is excellent — right opposite the waterfront and within walking distance to the seafood market, malls, and many food spots. The sea view from the room was amazing, especially during sunset.
The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. Breakfast spread was good with plenty of choices, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout the stay. The pool and rooftop area were also very relaxing after a long day out.
Overall, a great hotel for both leisure and short getaway trips in Kota Kinabalu. Would definitely stay here again!

We were lucky enough to get a room upgrade when checking in, offering a full ocean view. It was absolutely stunning and made me feel like we'd chosen the perfect hotel – a true beachside getaway is exactly what a vacation needs! The room itself was very spacious, and the bathroom was even bigger, cleaner, and brighter than it appeared in the online photos. We arrived late and caught the tail end of the sunset, and it only took a few minutes to walk down to the beach to see it. My friend and I aren't early risers, so we skipped Jesselton Point the next day and instead departed directly from the hotel's pier to Manukan Island. There were plenty of boat times available, and we took the 12:30 PM one. There's a dedicated boat for hotel guests, which also drops you back at the hotel – super convenient. If you want to visit The Magellan, the hotel also provides a shuttle bus. The Magellan is more family-friendly, but if you're looking for better value, The Pacific is definitely the way to go. However, I do have to mention that many of the hotel's facilities are quite old. The showerhead was leaking, and I hope they'll replace it soon.

It's an older hotel, just like it was 20 years ago. The location is excellent, and the lobby is still grand. However, the room facilities are quite dated, and the beds in the twin room are very small.
**Environment:** You can watch the sunset from here.
**Cleanliness:** The swimming pool and snorkeling area were very crowded and a bit messy.

I stayed at this hotel for three days right after arriving in the country, and I'm very grateful for its location, cleanliness, and the staff's kindness. The breakfast times and menu were also very satisfactory. I also appreciate the swimming pool facilities and the friendly staff who manage them. Furthermore, in terms of value for money, this hotel is top-notch. I'm also very thankful for the check-out time and service.

This place seriously blew me away. Located above Imago mall and styled like a high-end hotel, the room felt ultra-luxurious from the moment I walked in. Yes, it’s on the pricier side — but you can see and feel where the money goes.
Every detail screams premium: a Dyson hairdryer, thick and fluffy slippers, electronic blinds, touch-control lighting, and a stunning bathtub that instantly sets the mood for a relaxing stay. The design is sleek, modern, and Instagram-worthy in every corner.
What truly sets this place apart is the generosity in amenities. Instead of the standard small bottled water, they provide 1500ml drinking water, plus free-flow drinking water and soft drinks to enjoy anytime. Even the Starbucks cups added a classy, thoughtful touch that made the stay feel extra special.
On top of all that, parking is provided, making it incredibly convenient — especially with the mall right downstairs.
This isn’t just a place to sleep — it’s an experience. If you love luxury, comfort, and those little details that make you say “wow”, this place absolutely delivers.
It was great and convenient stay. The parking were quite hustled a bit (because the hotel were connected to the mall i guess), except if you added 50/15myr per day for the valet parking.
The room were better compared to those other legend hotels in Tawau; the floor carpet bit dirty and furniture quite oldies. The tv were working fine. The toilet were average; not to dirty but not too clean also. Toiletries were okay BUT they don’t provide toothbrush. Hm. Also we got the room that were strategically behind the aircond blower of the mall. The room soundproof quite decent; you can still hear people talking when they were at the hallways.
The mall behind got lot of shop; stalls, restaurant, saloon, cinema, massage parlour and at night, you can also enjoy a street food market 4 minutes by walking on the other side of the hotel.
So far we enjoyed the stay here. The staffs were varies; some were good; some maybe tired or just lazy, idk but checkin and out process were smooth.
We booked a renovated room, supposedly from 2 years ago, but when we arrived at 6 PM, they told us there were no rooms on the second floor, only on the first. They assured us it was the 'best room,' but as soon as we entered, there was a strong musty smell, and the hairdryer sounded like it was about to explode. After watching the sunset and having dinner, we returned to find the room getting hotter and hotter. We then realized the air conditioning was broken. It took three calls to finally get through to the front desk. The maintenance worker spent half an hour trying to fix it with no progress, and then told us we'd have to switch rooms. During all this, the room was incredibly stuffy and hot, almost unbearable. The front desk kept apologizing but only offered an extended checkout or a ride to the city the next day, and we had to decide on the spot what time we wanted to leave. This 'sorry' attitude was really disappointing and quite unbelievable.
The funniest part was that the room they moved us to was on the second floor – the very floor they said had no availability earlier. It was clean, no musty smell, and not hot at all. It makes you wonder who they were saving those rooms for, or if they were discriminating against us.
The hotel environment itself is beautiful and very photogenic, with lots of free and paid activities. Feeding the monitor lizards was fun. However, the front desk's attitude and their handling of issues were consistently poor. Exercise caution if you decide to stay here.
Also, we heard the hotel restaurants aren't great. We ate at the sunset bar, which was enough to fill us up, but you can't order takeout.

I chose this hotel because it's the closest to the beach with the best views, perfect for sunset watching, and indeed, the sunsets were spectacular! It's also very close to the airport. The room had a fantastic view. While the facilities felt a bit dated, it didn't detract from the overall vacation vibe. There's an ice machine on every floor, which was great for drinks. The heated pool was a nice touch, and the breakfast restaurant was huge with a wide variety of options. Because it's so large, getting from the Tanjung wing to the lobby was a bit of a walk. Also, on the fourth floor, the roof can slightly obstruct wide-angle photos. Overall, it offered a wonderful resort experience, and finding the hotel for Grab pickups was easy.

KKT5009Don't book during the rainy season, don't book during the rainy season, don't book during the rainy season. It's from Sep to Feb. I said 3 times it's important if you don't wanna ruin your holiday. We booked 3D2N in mid Sep. Our holiday turned out to be a staycation nightmare in the resort. We can't do all the water activities neither the jungle trekking. The water heater in our room is not working, we have to shower with shivering cold water in this kind of weather. Lots of big size anta inside the room crawling from the bathroom to the bedroom. Make sure you cleaned up for your snacks and drinks, tie up the garbage bag if you don't want these insects to come to your bed, There is also a landslide happening on our first night, luckily we are not affected as we stayed in the ocean villa. There is only one restaurant in this resort, food prices are the same as SG restaurant pricing, no cheap option here. In room dining needs to pay RM25 extra. Staff service is good but this cannot cover the several run down part of the resort.
MM58361****I think the hotel, though a bit old, is very well-managed. The breakfast is delicious, and for the price, it offers great value for money. My stay felt clean and comfortable.
RReeseDI only realized after checking in that this wasn't the ”most beautiful sunset” Shangri-La that's so famous online. This one is outside the city, but it's still a great resort. While the hotel is overall quite dated, the staff are very warm and friendly, and they have a heated pool. You can go to the mountains in the morning to see animals, but remember to book in advance due to limited spots. Most guests are Westerners and Chinese. It's not as photogenic as the other Shangri-La, but it's perfect for a relaxed, leisurely vacation.
NNero0919Perfect Getaway!
This hotel on Mantanani Island, Kota Kinabalu, is an absolute gem! It's simply divine!
I specifically came to Kota Kinabalu for Mantanani Island's crystal-clear waters, and I chose the Mantanani Hotel in advance. After staying there, I just had to give it five stars!
The location is absolutely stunning. Step out, and you're on a soft, white sand beach. Open the balcony door, and you're greeted by the jelly-blue ocean. Waking up to the sound of waves every day was incredibly therapeutic. We booked a sea-view room; it was clean and spacious, the mattress had just the right firmness, and the shower water pressure was perfectly stable. There was no cramped feeling, which can often be the case with island hotels.
I have to praise the service! The front desk staff were incredibly enthusiastic. They pre-arranged our island transfers and even proactively recommended snorkeling spots and delicious local snacks. They were always responsive and efficient. The hotel breakfast was also a pleasant surprise – freshly baked waffles with fresh mango, and freshly made Teh Tarik. The taste was absolutely spot on.
In the afternoon, I relaxed on a hotel beach chair, enjoying the sea breeze, and in the evening, I had a barbecue at the hotel restaurant under the stars. The pace was wonderfully slow and comfortable – exactly the island vacation vibe I was looking for. If you're coming to Mantanani Island, I honestly recommend staying here. The experience is so much better than a day trip. I'll definitely stay here again on my next visit to Kota Kinabalu!
Are you planning a trip to Mantanani Island soon? Would you like me to write another short review in a different style, suitable for social media?
GGuest UserOur stay at the Sagittarius Water Bungalow was absolutely fantastic! From our butler Xiao Gu to all the staff on the water bungalows and even the owners, everyone was incredibly nice. The rooms are equipped with smart Xiaomi home devices, clean and tidy. Opening the curtains reveals the beautiful 'jellyfish sea,' and the scenery is simply captivating. The food at the water bungalows is also delicious; breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, and dinner are all included in the price. Airport transfers and boat rides to the island are also covered, making it excellent value for money! We stayed for five days and four nights and didn't want to leave. The atmosphere on the island is also great, with KTV and song requests every night – the owner and his wife sing really well, by the way! The water bungalows offer a lot of entertainment, including sea fishing, snorkeling, glass-bottom boat tours, and drone photography. The local staff (Xiao Hei) are also happy to help with photos 📸. You can even get your diving certification and go on island-hopping day trips, keeping you thoroughly entertained. We came to Semporna specifically to get our diving certification, and the water bungalow's own dive shop is highly recommended. The instructors are very responsible and dedicated. I'd like to thank Xiao Li and Instructor Mohd Rizal Baba Selleh. The prices are fair, and the teaching focuses on the safety and skills of the students, which is very reassuring. The dive shop owner's wife is also super nice. All in all, this trip was incredibly worthwhile, and we'll definitely be back! I'll also be recommending it to my friends and family 😊

TTravelwithBamThe staff friendliness is just amzing 10/10. Excellent Service. Our room had amazing view of the sea and opposite resort called Gayana.
Dinner: Only Buffet option is available and its about RM167/person +taxes. The spread are fairly good and it is delicious.
Though they do have 2 more different Restaurant in the island,Japanese and fine dining.
Breakfast: Included in the room price. Menu changes daily.
I have nothing to complaint about the room, for us its comfortable. All rooms have exactly the dane Designs the only difference is where it is located. You are paying for the view.
Activities: For me I think 3 days 2 nights are perfect to spend your time here, swimming by the pool, kayaking, snorkling,Jungle trekking, visiting the private beach. 1 hour complimentary use of snorklinh masks. I like the public guests showers and towel provided.Very convinient.
One thing that I would like to comment is the boat fees are relatively very expansive.15 mins speedboat per person one way cost about Rm80+taxes..Just return trip cost RM170++ per person. This is not even including island conservation fees and tourist fees. All this added fees makes the Hotel cost more expansive. Because a boat trip to nearby or same Island cost only Rm40. GAYANA ECO RESORT provided inclusive/complimentary return boat fees. I hope the Management can improve this because we as Guests are going to spend more money on F&B and at the Bar.
Last but not least I would like to compliment the service and staffs in thsi Resort I think they did such an amazing job. Overalö the Resort is beautiful andclose to the nature.
