Ikkoten

This was our first ryokan experience as a couple and it exceeded all our expectations. The service was 5 star level, with friendly hosts every step of the way. The dinner and breakfast was delicious and so much food. The room was like a old Japanese house but renovated with modern and high end amenities. Best part was the private onsen. We looked into the forest while soaking. Best feeling ever. Wish we stayed more days. The air was cooler and so much fresher.

I can not recommend this hotel enough! The little community made of the family baths, common area and the small amount of cottages make for the perfect surrounding to stay in Yufuin. What you receive for the cost is well worth it. The library has free alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages mid day, they offer dinner at an additional charge and a mini fridge that is stocked withe plenty of alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages for free. Parking is plentiful and easy to use. They are dog friendly with a fenced in dog area that seems very new and clean. The family baths offer a magical view of Mount Yufu and are easily bookable for free the moment you arrive. We booked the Moegi Japanese Style Room · 1 Room and the unit is very spacious and perfect for a couple. The unit is traditional but well maintained. Slightly rustic due to it being so integrated into nature but still clean. The private bath is indoor and outdoor which in itself is very picturesque and even though you are close to other units it still feels fully private. The beds are perfection, fluffy yet firm and offer a great nights rest. The cherry on top of the cake is the small welcome pastry they offer to all guests. It is from a local shop and is the perfect sweet treat that required me to go and buy more from the shop in town.

The ryokan is not up to the expectation as what google review or trip.com ratings. Suite is quite old and smelly. Onsen area have cob webs. The family onsen is not like ig picture standard with lots of insects and a gecko. Food nevertheless is ok.

Great place for family trip. Family baths are available for reservation as group. Family bathing with the super nice view. Services are also great there. Recommend for family trip.
