Shangri-La Boracay

If you're going to Boracay, you absolutely have to stay at the Shangri-La at least once. As soon as I booked the hotel through Ctrip, I received an email from the hotel to discuss my travel itinerary and flight details. The hotel offers complimentary transfers from Caticlan Airport. The check-in experience was also excellent; the front desk staff were well-trained and communicated patiently. The hotel boasts unbeatable sea views, a private beach, and an infinity pool. If you swim out from the beach and are patient, you can find Nemo near several coral reefs. There are tons of fish, schooling together, near the pier. The kids' playground requires socks for entry and can keep children entertained for a long time. The hotel offers different daily family activities that can be reserved and are free to join. The playground also has pool tables, ping-pong tables, basketball shooting games, and arcade games… so adults won't get bored either. The hotel provides a free shuttle to D'Mall with a schedule; you need to register in advance to use it, and it's first-come, first-served. It doesn't pick up or drop off passengers mid-route. Breakfast was incredibly lavish. At the restaurant entrance, there were various fresh fruit baskets. If you went early, you could get mangosteens. The iced coffee was delicious, but it cost extra (350 pesos/cup). I'll definitely choose Shangri-La again on my next trip to Boracay.

The environment is nice, and the island transfer service is very convenient. It's perfect for a family trip with children. The hotel even has a private clinic to take care of minor issues promptly. The best part was definitely the airport transfer service.

So, what can I say about the hotel... overall, it seems there's nothing better on the island. It has its own secluded bay, 2 beaches, and an excellent pool area. All issues are resolved instantly; they are very customer-oriented. We stayed with 3 children: there's plenty to keep them occupied. There's a kids' club for younger children and one for teenagers (something for everyone's interests). The coffee at breakfast is good; the only downside is very limited European food (you can order porridge through the waiter). We liked the restaurant by the bar and the steakhouse. The staff really tries hard! We liked it and will come again.

The hotel is huge. It's a bit of a walk to the breakfast area. Also, this area is exclusive to hotel guests, as there's nothing else nearby. The beach is beautiful, but with so many guests, it feels a bit less private. The hotel's luxury feels more Western than Asian, which was a bit over-the-top for me and made it hard to relax. Considering the price, I didn't think it was particularly good, so I probably wouldn't stay here again.
