Wyndham Grand Plaza Royale Furongguo Changsha

Coming to Changsha for a two-night trip, I booked the Wyndham Furongguo and ended up extending my stay by another night on a whim. First, I was given a room at the end of the hallway on the 18th floor. I'm not particularly superstitious about end rooms; in fact, I sometimes prefer them as they can be larger and brighter. Shortly after settling in, I noticed construction work going on upstairs. I thought it would only last a brief moment, but when I checked with the front desk, they said it would take a few days. So, I packed up again and moved to the 16th floor. After coming back down, I could still hear noise, so I finally moved to the 11th floor. On the 11th floor, there was still a faint sound of renovation, but it was manageable enough not to bother me. Once inside, I realized it was a connecting room. However, having already moved twice, I really didn't want to bother packing again, nor did I want to keep troubling the hotel staff, so I just stayed put. That said, the hotel service is quite good. During check-in and both room changes, the staff proactively offered to help with the luggage. Although parking is tight given the prime location, they managed to arrange a decent spot for the car. The room decor gives off that classic, established star-rated hotel vibe, which is quite comfortable. However, I’d recommend upgrading the hair dryers; the one on the 18th floor was much better and brand new. There is a cube-shaped adapter on the bedside table with direct USB ports. After moving to the 11th floor, I asked the hotel for a newer hair dryer and an extension cord, which solved the bedside charging issue. Breakfast was decent, and the taste was fine too. A Manager Cheng at the restaurant entrance was wonderful. When I asked him about the 5th-floor spa and in-room dining, he immediately added me on WeChat and gave me a detailed response. The 5th floor offers spa massages and foot reflexology. Although the hotel provides discount coupons, buying a group-buying deal on Dianping is actually a better value. After swimming, I had the nanny take the kids to the 2nd-floor kids' club while I went for a massage—it was convenient and a real time-saver. Aside from the spa, there seems to be a KTV. The upside is the convenient recreation options, but the downside is the mixed crowd. The indoor pool had few people, the water temperature was just right, and the kids loved it. It’s just a pity that the changing area doesn't have a swimsuit spin dryer. The kids' club doesn't open until 11:30 AM, takes a break in the afternoon, and then stays open until 9:00 PM. The hotel location is very convenient, situated right in the prime downtown area close to many attractions. Since I booked my extended night directly through the hotel, I chose to stay here even though I could have already left a review on Trip.com. The reason I'm writing this review so late is that from around 11:00 PM until 1:40 AM, there was intermittent noise coming from upstairs: sounds like a bathroom or closet door banging loudly, along with what sounded like someone stomping their feet, and I could actually feel the vibrations in my room. Because it happened sporadically, I couldn't even record it. The sound of switches clicking was so clear it felt like someone was pressing buttons right inside my room—I actually managed to capture that bit on my phone. The poor soundproofing is truly frustrating. All in all, the value for money here is quite acceptable. I just hope they can put some effort into resolving the noise issues.

This is hands down the worst hotel I've ever stayed in, and it's my first ever negative review. I booked a five-star hotel, but the air conditioning was broken. Customer service told me to call them directly from the landline, but that was broken too! When I asked for a solution, a five-star hotel told me to just open a window to cool down, hahaha. At best, they offered a fan. I don't even use a fan at home, and now I'm supposed to use one in a five-star hotel? Is that their solution? We were a group of four traveling – a four-year-old child, a 70-year-old senior, and a pregnant woman. We were struggling with our luggage, and not a single person offered to help us. A valet was just playing on his phone. 1200 a night for this kind of service and attitude? And they call themselves an 'established five-star hotel'? They should just close down.

What's more, it's within walking distance of Helong Sports Center and Snack Kingdom, perfect for catching a concert. 🛏️ I stayed in a business room, which was spacious and furnished in a classic, 'old money' business style, with dark wood furniture and elegant soft furnishings. Despite the hotel being 17 years old, the property is impeccably maintained, and cleanliness is top-notch. The mattress offers just the right balance of softness and firmness, perfect for unwinding after a busy day. The bathroom was roomy, with stable water pressure and a full set of amenities. 🍽️ The breakfast buffet offers a wide array of choices, balancing both Chinese and Western dishes, along with a full selection of local Hunan specialties, allowing for a relaxed start to the day. 💁🏻♂️ What truly stands out is the nuanced service, refined over 17 years. It’s professional and appropriate without being overly enthusiastic, ensuring efficient check-in and prompt responses to requests – a hallmark of a truly mature five-star hotel. My overall stay was excellent. Winnie provided meticulous and thoughtful service. The room facilities were complete, and it was very clean. I'll definitely choose this hotel again next time I'm in Changsha for a business trip!

Traveling to Changsha with our child, choosing this Wyndham in the city center was a great decision, very hassle-free and perfect for families. We booked a king room, which was excellent value for money. For just over 800 RMB, we got two nights plus breakfast. The hotel also has a free kids' play area with building blocks, educational toys, and a small climbing structure – perfect for letting the kids burn off some energy after a long day of sightseeing. The heated pool is also great for family swimming, and the water quality is excellent. The breakfast buffet offers a wide variety of options, including congee, pastries, and small snacks that are suitable for children, and easy to access. Located on Furong Middle Road, the transportation is convenient. It's not far from Wuyi Square, and both taxis and the subway are easily accessible, making it easy to visit attractions and try local food without detours.

Pretty good. The lobby is grand and the service is responsive. It's a bit old though, and some of the facilities are outdated, like the non-smart toilets. But you can tell they're making an effort to maintain it, and the cleanliness is excellent.

The room was really spacious, and we even got a free upgrade! The service was excellent, a special shout-out to Gary! Breakfast was fantastic too. It's super convenient for getting around, everything felt close by. Overall, a five-star experience!

This is an established five-star hotel with well-maintained facilities. The location is convenient, and the hotel is clean with warm, attentive service. It's also very close to the Helong Sports Center, within walking distance. I would definitely consider staying here again on my next trip to Changsha.
