Absolutely loved everything about this place! I stayed overnight with my friend and her family. Yuta (owner's son) and his mother went above and beyond to give us spectacular experience! Food was top quality, facility was extremely clean, Onsen water was so silky, delicious Gelato and good opportunity to try varieties of Japanese alcohol. This place made our visit to Hokkaido extra special. Thank you for taking good care of us and spending quality time with Matthew! He adores you!! ps. Ask Yuta to make Esther's secret menu: pistachio affragato 😀

For us it is the second time in this wonderful hotel and every time it is like living a dream: it feels like being in a bubble thanks to all the well-being in which you are immersed. You are pampered by every service present and by the kindness of the staff, which makes you feel at home. The food is simply divine and you would just like to have a more spacious stomach so you could taste more and more. Nature is unsurpassed, every day you find yourself meeting spectacular creatures even just going out a short distance away. You will not find a similar place in all of Japan, where man meets nature in a perfect combination of balance, harmony and deep respect. We hope to be able to return a third time and relive this beautiful dream again. Thank you for everything Kitakobushi Shiretoko Hotel!

We specifically chose to experience both Kiki and Hokushinui in Eastern Hokkaido, and honestly, we loved both. As first-timers, it was great to have a shuttle bus waiting for us right when we got off the coach. The driver even held a sign to confirm our booking, and the staff would greet us and open doors every time we entered or left. They even said 'thank you' in Chinese when they knew we were from China, which instantly made us feel more at home. The overall design seems to be centered around natural, untouched beauty, and the 'blue hour' moments were truly stunning. There's also a dedicated area to relax and enjoy tea. The room was much larger than typical Tokyo hotel rooms and impeccably clean. Even as I write this review, looking through my photos brings back such happy memories from Eastern Hokkaido. I think that's the true meaning of great hotel service: letting these small, beautiful details become cherished and unforgettable moments in your travels and in life, warming you and taking you back to that moment whenever you think of them.

Highly recommended! We booked a Western-style room in the West Wing, and it was incredibly spacious with fantastic views. The only minor drawback was the bit of a walk to the onsen, restaurant, and smoking room. The dinner is an absolute must-try – super abundant and authentically Japanese, with high-quality ingredients. The scallops and wagyu beef are unlimited, and there's an all-you-can-drink alcohol option, plus daily rotating dishes. We even got to try venison and bear meat! We stayed for two days, and there weren't many tour groups yet, but lots of Japanese seniors. It made me wonder if it reminded them of the prosperity during Japan's economic boom. The onsen area is also huge, and the wash and shower areas were the largest I've seen in Japan. They clearly label whether the baths are regular tap water or hot spring water, and I saw staff meticulously checking the temperature and water quality of each one.

You can see the building from the bus center. After getting off the bus, cross the road, walk straight, and turn left for a few minutes, and you're there. The room is spacious, and the bathroom's shower and tub areas are also generous. The air conditioning was already on and cooling the room. You have a sea view as soon as you look up. It's close to the roadside station (michi-no-eki), the sightseeing boat pier, and the Sarugaki-iwa (monkey rock) area. There are two convenience stores within a few minutes' walk. There's a hot spring on the top floor, but it's a bit hot to use in the summer. There are several restaurants in the direction of the sightseeing boat pier. I ate twice at one garden restaurant, and there's a delicious noodle shop called 'Nami Hishibuki' in the direction of the michi-no-eki. The sunset at Sarugaki-iwa is beautiful.

Conveniently located: bus station, tren station, convenience store, walking distance to the bridge (watch eagles) and to the beach. I wish they had some meals to purchase in the New Year holiday. No food at all.

Excellent service from the staff. A lovely cottage. Breakfast and dinner was excellent. There wasn’t any air conditioning which made it unbearably warm, fortunately the temperature dropped as the night progressed and we had a good night’s rest

This is a very dated hotel and could do with refurbishment and sound proofing (we unfortunately had very noisy neighbours). It's a bit far from the main road, so easiest to travel by car or taxi. We had a nice view from our room. There is no daily cleaning but fresh towels are provided in a plastic bag, so I don't quite understand the ”environmental” reasons for not cleaning daily. We had the buffer dinner 1 night and breakfast 2 mornings - adequate but not outstanding. Small room and tiny, crowded bathroom. Overall I felt this was overpriced for the quality of experience.

The room was clean, and the hotel offers free parking, which was very convenient. Self check-in and check-out were quick and hassle-free. As a nice bonus, each guest receives one free cup of instant noodles. The view from the hotel was beautiful and made the stay even more enjoyable. One thing to note is that the room only has a toilet—there is no private bathroom. Showers are located in the public bath area instead. Overall, it was a pleasant stay, and I would consider staying here again.

A word of advice to Chinese travelers: Before booking, always check if your hotel room has air conditioning! Otherwise, checking in during the scorching heat and being assigned a non-AC room can be incredibly frustrating. Thanks to the Ctrip agent who constantly communicated with the hotel front desk, and despite insisting I didn't see the ”no air conditioning” notice, they finally upgraded me to a private Japanese-style room with a private bathroom and mountain views. This unexpectedly made my 3-day, 2-night trip to the Shiretoko Five Lakes a delight.
